Starts out interesting but becomes a daytime soap opera within a few seasons. I think I stopped around the third.

It is absolutely a soap opera, but with production values of a film and very talented cast of actors. Beyond the soap-like storylines, it touches on the class distinctions of life at that time, and the ever evolving plight of the common man versus the entrenched aristocracy. It is interesting look into the world of hundred years ago. Maggie Smith alone is worth the watch.

Yea season 3 is where you want to end this abortion

The story ends being interesting after 3 seasons but I kept watching through just because I still enjoyed the set, costumes, and great acting. It's just cool to see a show filmed so well

Give it a whirl. You'll know within an episode or two whether you'll like it.
Like all shows, it has its highs and lows, but we've enjoyed it.

After the third, I'd caught up with the show so I just started watching week to week. I admit the 4th season was a bit slower than the first ones, but it kept my interest and I'm enjoying this last season. I'd watch just to see the Dowager every week.

this is my take on it as well. I think I stopped in middle of Season 4.

she's been my favorite from the beginning. I do love brunettes.

My thoughts exactly. I enjoyed seasons 1 and 2 (although it started slipping in season 2). I couldn't make it through season 3.

Also similar to Game of Thrones in that bad bad bad things happen to the folks you like the most. This is one of the things that finally turned me off the show.

I'll agree it went off the rails a bit but I feel like the last couple of seasons it has gotten back on track.

Yes but almost none of it was the choice of the writers. I gave them a pass for that reason.
