Why is there such a big myth that the NBA doesn't play defense?
Posted on 1/27/16 at 6:29 am to Fus0623
All I know is "Seth" Curry scored 37 the other night against, according to the OP, the only team that plays defense.

the "current" NBA has the most talented players but is an absolute joke in terms of defense.(Not including the Spurs and of course the playoffs) Yes, they make more open shots; but the majority of coaches run 2 sets: pick and roll or isolation and space the floor.
You don't watch NBA basketball at all if your pea brain thinks this

Seth Curry, arguably the best NBA player currently, couldn't even make a major power 5 conference in college. Yet, he shines given the pathetic effort on defense in the NBA.
Seth Curry plays for the Kings and is NOT arguably the best NBA player currently.

This is one of those OP gems that gets more stupid/hilarious with every reading.
I'll revisit this throughout the day to get a chuckle, probably

Go check the Tiger Rant if you want a good chuckle. I've never seen a more uneducated group of people on a sport. It's like this is the first time they've ever seen a basketball game.

Anybody who believes CBB is a better product than the NBA in any way, shape or form is a complete idiot.

Because people seem to think physical play = good defense.
Playing great defense in the NBA right now might be as tough as it has ever been given the relative skill level throughout rosters 1-13, hand checking rules, and the sophisticated nature of today's offenses.

Yep.
This idea that teams actually play defense in CBB is flawed. Theres a difference between playing defense and fouling every time down the floor.
College coaches know the refs won't call every foul like NBA refs do throughout the game, so they tell their players to hack the shite out of the opponent every time and dare the refs to call it.
The NBA is by FAR a better product, and its not close at all.

It was not better defense at the college level. It was those players being able to get away with murder by not having a foul called. A guy beats you off the dribble? Slap his arms as hard as you can. Plus if you did get called for there is no continuation.
That and college coaches all micromanaged the game by having their teams run a snails pace in the half court vs these defenses who had the heavy advantage because of the rules.

Oh my...
I rarely swing through TR, but I might during y'all's next basketball game.
TexAgs basketball board is actually pretty decent, I just don't post there much. I think the bball board manages to avoid most of the football crazies most of the time, and it helps that there are three pro teams in TX, so most of the Aggie fans are decently knowledgeable.
But there's always a few that make you scratch your head

NBA by a mile. College basketball has become tough to watch for me. If I do tune in to a non-LSU college game, it's usually between two smaller schools where someone can actually make a free throw.

Yes, I have clearly simplified the vast amount of complexity involved in NBA offenses...my bad! However, the NBA is a superstar driven league which practically takes away any semblance that it is team game.
NBA ratings over the last 5 years don't lie, it is on decline.

Granted.

It's like you haven't even paid attention to the last two champions. Spurs won it all as a team. Warriors won it all as a team (and the Finals MVP was a role player, not a superstar).
The Grizz play as a team.
The Hawks play as a team.
The Mavs play as a team.
The Bucks play as a team.
I could go on, but you get the point. You don't know what the hell you're talking about. Just say you prefer CBB because you prefer CBB, because you clearly can't back up your stance with anything of substance.
