Hundreds, maybe thousands, of cats and dogs are euthanized every day due to no fault of their own.

i know, but does that make it right? These "hunters" are the problem. Deal with them, not the dogs.

No, I don't lease the land I hunt. Unlike those guys, I own the piece of land that I hunt.

I had to shoot dogs to end that shite on my property.

Almost had a shoot out over it though. Better have balls to shot a trespasser with a gun if you shoot his dogs. Although most their dogs they starve or get from the pound then turn them out

Considering we have a very healthy predator population of coyotes, foxes, and bobcats, the trapping idea would be very plausible. I may take that approach if it comes to that. Dog hunting ends on the 26th so I'm thinking this problem won't get solved until next year. I'm calling the timber company tomorrow though. Thanks guys for the advice. I'll update if anything happens. Good hunting!

Here's the problem with dogs, many fog hunters don't care if all the dogs make it back to them after a hunt so left over dogs can become feral and are more detrimental to the deer herd than coyotes. I treat all dogs as feral dogs regardless of collar or whatever the circumstance. I don't know their health situation or temperament and I don't trust it so I put it down. You put enough of them down and it becomes a hassle for the dog hunters who will then move on.

If their dogs are running on your land, it is equivalent to them coming and sitting in one of your stands and shooting deer on your property, because they are moving deer to them that may otherwise never be seen by them.

trust me if you tell those guys you are trapping they will not run the dogs unless they are just trash. tell them there are leg traps all the way to your property line and you'd hate to see them lose any dogs

it works

I hear what you're saying about them, and trust me, I feel your frustration. The problem is if you start shooting dogs, you can go to jail, get fined heavily, lose your lease, and shite around your camp will start burning and missing. There are other ways that are just as effective that you won't jeopardize other things.

please refrain from shooting the dogs IF they have a collar. Know somebody who did and it turned out to be a three time world champion squirrel dog lmao.

Be ready for a world of shite if you plan to shoot those hounds. If you do decide to and I would if i were you, keep that on the down low. Be smart about it. Dont say shite to anyone or you will have to pay the piper if you know what I mean.

There was a case, I think in North Carolina maybe(?), where neighboring clubs and landowners actually sued a large property owner who was running dogs. It fell under the same statutes as being able to enjoy your own property without intrusion from others or their pets. Have no idea what it was called. Anyway, it led to pretty broad sweeping changes in dog hunting statewide wherever it was. Wish I could remember right now. Also wish someone would do it in LA.

Do you hunt around folks who run dogs a bunch?

There's as many as them mangy bastards running around with GPS collars on now as don't almost. It's not the good ol days like yer granpappy told you about. Start shooting deer dogs, and folks will know. Whether you open your mouth or not.

For the record, I have no intention of shooting the pooches. Like I said in the original post, I like dogs. Not to mention, there's no telling what these country folk would do in retaliation. While I'm not scared of them in the least, I just like living in peace, if y'all know what I mean. Hopefully it never comes to that.

I'm going to do a little investigating and perhaps I can find a way to resolve this peacefully.

If they don't care about dogs coming back, then how will shooting them fix anything?

Based on his idea, I think I have seen signs stating "trapping in area" or something along those lines. Place them on the edge of your area might help.
