Adult ADD/ADHD experience?

Does anyone here have experience with ADD medication as an adult?
I was diagnosed as a young man with ADHD and was always on Ritalin. After graduating high school I realized that I probably didn't need medication for focus anymore.
Not until I went back to school and LSU did I realize that I definitely needed some type of medication to help me focus.
About five or six months ago I realized that I could probably use that same type of assistance in my professional life and got prescribed adderall. It has changed my life and I'm more comfortable with my day-to-day activities that I may have ever been in the past.
Fast forward 6 months and now here I am with a newly prescribed dose of Vyvanse and today was my first day on the medication. It was ridiculously uncomfortable nearly all day. I got headaches, stomach aches, and just foggy until about 2 or 3 o'clock in the afternoon when I suspect it started to wear off.
So I took a single dose of my adderall that I still have leftover and I went back to being "normal"
Did I not give the vyvanse enough time to acclimate to my body? Should I give it another go or should I stick with what works?

Sounds like good questions for your MD.

I don't need "medical advice"
Per se...
I'm looking for experiences and input.

My dad is supposed to take medicine W cause he's as add as you can get and he did before he retired. He refused to since he retired and it's been very difficult.

Yea you should probably expect to feel a little weird swapping one medicine that fricks with your brain for another. I'd try Vyvanse for a few days and see if it is still bothering you. I've taken both regularly and had a much better experience with Vyvanse.
ETA: Maybe your dosage is too high.

It made me feel sick and like I smoked meth. Why did you switch if the Addy was working?

Between 2nd grade to college I was prescribed just about all of them.
Vyvanse fricked with me the hardest. I hated myself on all of them but vyvanse was the worst. Never ate, grumpy, anti-social, ect
I am dyslexic so these pills did nothing but crack me out. I do know some people are so adhd ther you can really tell the difference between when they are on med and not.

What's the dosage you're on? I take 40mg everyday and love it.

Even an hour and change after I took the pill I realized it didn't make my mind sharper or clear the noise.
I had that result the first tone I took the Adderall.
Even now, hours after my taking the Adderall, my mind isn't foggy or racing... I feel very deliberate.
Is that something that comes with adjustment to the new meds?

I'd say this anonymous message board is more than qualified to give out medical advice.
Also financial and legal advice.

My thing was I would take adderall and spend 6 hours on megaupload downloading music and cleaning up my iTunes.
Then I'd look at my clock and see the test was in ten minutes.

Doc started me at 30mg after I was taking 60mg of adderall in the morning and 15mg in the afternoon.

I have it. Not prescribed anything.
Eat right, exercise is the best I'm gonna do.

Guys, I get it. Unfortunately my doctor isn't taking questions at nearly 8 pm on a Thursday

I think we all react differently. Adderall gives me lots of the sucky side effects (jitters, inability to sleep, tight jaw), with minimal focus improvement. I end up in a cycle of not sleeping, needing Adderall to stay awake, which makes me not sleep even more, etc. Vyvanse doesn't give me those side effects. It can cause mild stomach upset sometimes (because it kicks in when it hits an enzyme in your intestine).
Sadly, my stupid insurance won't cover V without jumping through hoops. So I suck it up with Adderall.
Basically, use what works best for you. I didn't really need an acclamation period with Vyvanse.
