usually when someone comes to me and the first thing they want is an NDA, it's always followed by the "I'll pay you via a percentage of the company" deal. For some reason, those two things always go hand in hand with the startup ideas people. Nothing against the NDA itself, just known in the programming community and my experiences as a bad sign.
It's probably a bad sign b/c if they want to pay you in equity instead of in cash it means there isn't any capital behind the startup yet, they're really just exploring an idea.

Find a startup incubator. Typically they start helping right after idea formulation, typically have good contacts for finding programmers.
Idk if you are still at lsu, if so there is an incubator on campus.
Usually you can get email college MIS and comp sci professors and they can get you set up with a student email blast if you are looking for cheap part time workers.

There are a slew of good ideas. It's not the idea, rather the execution of the idea that counts. NDA's for ideas are generally pretty retarded and is a sign that you don't know what you're doing.
Agreed. Not just the execution, but how practical the execution is, and how it can grow, and the steps at each process of that growth to maintain the appeal of the concept/idea.
I have had plenty of "ideas", but plenty of them are "ehhh", fairly impractical, not entirely useful and/or necessary.

One more thing. The reason ideas are pretty trash is because it shows you haven't really done anything except take a shower once and come up with some idea. Now you want to have a developer (who makes $100,000+) to spend 100 hours building a site/app for you, effectively making him the most committed person to the project
I agree, and thank goodness my idea is much more simple than that. I have things I should do beforehand to get the ball rolling, and it wouldn't really be until later that I would go more in depth and need a developer.

It's really hard to get a developer at the very beginning, unless you're paying, he's your friend or you have some track record in the startup world (in which case you would get investors at the beginning as well).
Understood. Thanks for the info.

Easy way to drive away programmers IMO.
