they have a script and a director, now lets get a cast and start filming.
Who do you want to play Rapp?
I would like to see Tom Hardy among others

Had no idea this movie was coming out. I loved those books.

Yes, if done right could be a great series of movies.

American Assassin.
Starting from the beginning

Glad to see they are going chronologically.
Problem is that Mitch is a taller guy, who can pass for Arab because of his complexion and facial features (when he grows his beard out)

i love hardy, but don't see this as him, but i could see him as Scott Haverth.
have to be a pretty young looking guy if he's fresh out of Syracuse like in the books.
Chris Hemsworth was mentioned earlier on and i could go for that. or Scott Eastwood.

Agreed. I freaking love these books and the Mitch Rapp character. Flynn did such a great job with him.

No kidding. Please NO Chris Pine, NO Hemsworth, either of them. Needs to be tall, dark, and brooding. Maybe not go with the flavor of the month, but find someone who can actually pull it off.

screw you.
i just googled actors in their 20's and after looking at a long list Hemsworth, Garrett Hedlund, and Aaron Taylor Johnson are the only ones remotely looking the role. the rest are a bunch of hipster 100 lb weaklings.

I'm sure there are at least 50 guys on walking around on LSU's campus right now that are as hot and better actors than any list Hollywood comes up with
If those are my only 3 choices, I'm not sure who I'd go with. Preferably one who had read the books and could pull off the brooding aspect. Not to mention the whole Arab thing.

Tom Hardy would be great as Rapp. He is pretty much how I pictured him.
They better start with American Assassin.
The real question is, who do they get to play Stansfield and Irene Kennedy?

Tom Hardy is way too short to play Rapp, but he could probably pull off the character aspects. Plus, he might be a bit too old to play Rapp in American Assassin. Need a youngster.
Excellent question. Who are your choices?

Idris Elba.
And call me when they do a movie based on Memorial Day. I'll check-in then.

Have to think about Kennedy.
For Stansfield, first person that comes to mind is Scott Glenn.

I had read they were intersted in Willis as Stan Hurley. I could go for that. Also Jeff Bridges. Clint Eastwood would be a little too stereotypical.
Stansfield - Ed Harris
Kennedy - I got nothing. Diane Lane?

I think Liev Schreiber could maybe pull off Mitch. For some reason I always pictured Jon Hamm as Mitch when I was reading the books. I don't see that at all anymore

I like this idea. He's so good in everything he does

Good choice. Needs to be tough, elegant and understated. A difficult combination to find.

Diane Lane is too old for Kennedy. If they are starting with American Assassin, i pictured her as late 30s to 40s.
