I pictured more of a Scott Glenn type character.
Voight's face doesn't fit what I remember.

Diane Lane is too old for Kennedy. If they are starting with American Assassin, i pictured her as late 30s to 40s.
in American Assassin Mitch is 20-22 and Irene is only 29-30

Like I said, Diane Lane is too old.

Who is your choice for Kennedy?

Not sure yet. I'm gonna think about it and get back to you.

they look at each like brother and sister because they are close in age.
Irene has been a woman that can be cold and calculating and show absolutely no emotion but project power and confidence

I thought about
Jessica Chastain
Rosamund Pike
Rose Byrne
Emily Blunt

actually watching scario I thought about her in this role. I think she would be great

I think Pike would do well in that role. She's hot, but she can be made to look less striking. She's also got the cold and emotionless thing down. I think she'd age well in a series.

Can she play black?

Pike is not a bad choice.
Blunt would be a solid no go for me. Done with that B.

lol I know, but they are closer to brother/sister relationship in the book..
hey it worked in dexter.

I'm not feeling Blunt and I really like her as an actress. I think it's her voice that turns me off for this role.
I'm going to start re-reading that book tonight. Maybe someone will come to me.
And as much as I like Krasinski's work, he isn't Mitch Rapp.

I'm sure a lot of people could do it, including Krasinski. My first choice would be someone with a dark demeanor, but a lot of ideas probably are too old or don't match the description.
Like Quinn from Homeland, but the look isn't right. Or Edgar Ramirez for example, who has done the radical terrorist thing in Carlos and the CIA role in ZDT. He could obviously pull off the "slightly middle eastern" look but perhaps is too ethnic for it. And hopefully it'll be a series, so you probably need a lot of power to carry a franchise.

I agree I'm just spit balling, actually I wouldn't be opposed to finding someone new and upcoming, but the problem there is he would have to be a homerun otherwise it could kill the series

I like her too, but for some reason can't see it. She just hasn't been in a businesswoman/politician type role that I can think of. Sort of a darker deal in Sicario, but she was the opposite of what you'd need for Kennedy.

Jessica Chastain came to mind. Make her a brunette. She pulled off stoic in ZDT. She is 38 though.
