Simmons had a bad game and still had a double double

Think about that
Other LSU players who had bad games:
Victor- 10 points, foul trouble very early and had to sit
Hornsby- 8 points and went 3/7 from he field
Gray- 0 points and 2 assists
Blakeney- 7 points, 1 assist, 1 rebound
Patterson- 1/5 from the field for only 3 points
Malone and Robinson combined for a whopping 4 points and 6 rebounds and 5 fouls
LSU as a team only shot 10 FTs all game
I won't pretend Simmons had the best game. Obviously he didn't. But to slander the kid for an anomaly bad performance while the rest of the team sucked shite through a straw is crazy and makes me hate you all IRL.
The problem is depth down low and coaching.

Probably a triple double if you include his turnovers

Sounds like the stats that Chavis used to accumulated.

Victor is the glue to this team. If he's on the bench half the game we're in trouble

Simmons is using the season as a combine. He's athletically superior, so he'll have a double double most times. And this is going to be unpopular, but here I go... he plays like he doesn't care about what the team accomplishes, that whatever they do is just extra on top of his skills tour.

Any of those other guys going to be the number one pick in the draft?

Here's the gripe, all of this is true...
And yet the "best NBA prospect of the last many years" is content with passing the ball to these guys and letting the fate of our team rest on them, instead of trying to carry the team himself. A perfect example was when the team was down 10, with 7 seconds left on the play clock, Bennie had the ball in his hands, yet instead of trying to score the ball he passed to Darcy 13 feet away from the goal, who predictably did not score. Michael Jordan didn't pass the ball to Luc Longley when the team needed a basket.

Like I said, he had a bad game. But he doesn't deserve to shoulder the blame when no other player had more than 12 points or 4 rebounds

What does that matter? He had a bad game. No one has denied that. But great players can't carry mediocre teams. It's still 5 on 5.

And I disagree about Blakeney. He had a pretty, solid game. He just spent a lot of time on the bench, but when he was in, he played well.

Why is this said nearly every game? Shouldn't he be having good games more often?

I don't disagree with your criticism. I wish he'd take over. But his lack of a jump shot has hurt this team and his ability to take over at times. But it hasn't hurt LSU enough to lose games because he does so many other things well.
This team just isn't very well coached or very talented top to bottom.

Yep.
I won't fault other posting for wanting all of our guys, including Simmons, to play harder.

How's that?

Blakeney was expected to contribute much more offensively. His defense is why he still even sees the floor.

What? In basketball, one great player can totally carry a team. Lebron has brought the Cavs to the Finals TWICE. Please don't make me list a ton of examples, there are many to choose from.

But you laughed at another poster in another thread that had the opinion that Ben Simmons was not the best college basketball player of 2016. Draft potential and future prospects are one thing, but many were expecting a Naismith Award winner.

He would rather pass than take bad shots. A&M clicked the paint all night and dared us to beat them from outside. We shot the 3 like shite. Thad how you beat us.
Simmons passes really well. He plays in the post really well. He rebounds well. But he doesn't have a jump shot yet.

He logs crazy arse minutes and LSU runs in transition even on makes
The rest of the team has to play better for LSU to win and Simmons to get his just like any other phenom
He's a distributor at heart and when his guys are pulling their weight we are gonna lose

Extremely passive and lately turning the ball over when trying to make the flashy pass... basically what any objective observer has seen lately
