Even without a jump shot he's still the best player in the country

Let's not discount all the other things he does really well

You'll have to look for yourself on minutes since it's not on ESPN app on mobile. I'm not digging around the Internet for you

He plays a lot and LSU plays fast and that shite is tiring. Easy to criticize effort from your couch while he is running in transition at 6'10

Thanks for the info,You started the thread throwing stats around, I was only insinuating he should get a double-double when he plays 38 minutes a game.

Oh ok so now he's not good because he averages a double double, he just gets it because of the minutes he plays.

Any college player could average a double double with 38 minutes I guess.

I'm not trying to argue with you as much as it seems, Bennie does a lot of things very well. But if there was a draft, for only the 2016 college basketball season, and nothing beyond, I'm not sure that college coaches would take Simmons first. Guys from the past like Adam Morrison and JJ Reddick were stud college players that just didn't take off easily in the NBA. But if I'm building a college team for one season, those guys are more dominant in college than Simmons is currently. I'm sure there are college players out there this year that fit a similar build, being a great college player without the large NBA future ahead.

Well when YOU post about other players that played in the same game less than 10 minutes of time?I'm just comparing the #1 NBA pick with a Double-Double to Darcy Malone time on the floor.

Ya the guy with 38 plus minutes vs a guy with about 8 should have better stats

No he isn't. He is the number one prospect because of potential and how rare it is a guy for his size to be able to handle the ball

Redick was a great shooter surrounded by a Duke team. I loved Redick and rooted for them when he was there besides when they played LSU.

He averaged 2.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists for his career and 19.9 points. Simmons is a much better overall player and that will show in the NBA.

I didn't look up Morrison's stats because I'm tired but keep in mind Redick at his peak was not a true freshman.

And again, I've said probably 5 times now he had a bad game.

And go look at just the starter's stats and come back. LSU rotated guys in all night trying to get someone going and no one could contribute. Your best player has a bad game sometimes and it's up to the other guys to pick up the slack. They did not tonight.

There's the problem with Simmons-LSU Fans...

LSU isn't in the NBA

He's a better college player too if you're comparing freshman years. And hell even if you look at offensive and defensive stats. He's a much better passer and a much better rebounder.

Do you realize how dominant Simmons would be if he stayed for 4 years like Redick? Y'all are comparing a guy who played for 4 years to a player who hasn't even played 1 full season.

The #1 pick had ten points and didn't affect the game at all? Sorry. If he's the top pick, he has to be more aggressive in taking over a game

Yea I'm gonna need a quote on this one considering the entire premise of the thread is that on a bad night for Simmons he didn't get any help from his team

Note: Simmons had a bad game. That affected the game. I've made that abundantly clear numerous times.

fricking post his stats in OP. frick. Every game I have to go to ESPN or something if I miss the stat line quoted after the game. Why does nobody post his stats?

10 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and TO not listed but had to have been at least 6-8.

That's the point. We won't get Bennie as a sophomore, junior, or senior. What he does right now, as a 19 year old freshman, is all that LSU will get out of him. Right now, in 2016, there are older players in college, who may not have as good as a NBA future as Bennie, who are better college basketball players this year.

Even his current numbers are arguably better than Redick's for his career

More points, rebounds and assists. I won't deny that Redick's shooting ability would be fricking great to have and he wasn't as careless with the ball

Simmons would start today and get 30+ min on any school in the country. And he'd put up numbers. The difference is if he were at UK, UNC or Duke then those teams would have enough talent and coaching around him to turn it into Ws.
