Eric Gordon fractured the ring finger on his right hand. No timetable for his return.

Waited too long to start trading the likes of EG, Ryno, and Reke for picks. Now he may not be tradeable or playable before the deadline.

Who cares anymore anyway. We need to blow this roster up minus AD.

You realize its not that simple right?

We very likely were not getting much for EG anyway. Ryno and Reke are who you're going to get something for.

I have my doubts how tradeable Gordon was to begin with. The size of his contract makes it hard to find a match without taking garbage back. I have regularly brought up Boston because they have David Lee, but Gordon would probably break their defense.

I think you might get more value for Ryno nearer to the deadline. On the BSS podcast they were talking about how wide open the East was with no clear #2 team and if you could get multiple teams bidding with each other for a guy that can put them over the top who knows what you can pull. They'll pay more when they're closer to the finish line and the allure of the Conference Finals clouds their long term vision.

They also talked about the somewhat old rumors of Riley ready to cash in Winslow for a star because he wants to win now. Could some sort of Ryno package net you Melo? Would the Heat want Melo?

4 team trade
Pels get Justise Winslow, Joe Johnson
Heat gets Melo
Knicks get Hassan Whiteside, Ryno, Luol Deng
Nets get Tyreke, Josh McRoberts, Norris Cole
LINK

Pels clear cap space and get a top 10 pick defensive wing on a rookie deal.

Heat get a 3rd star to put next to Wade and Bosh.

Knicks get a stretch 4 and rim protector to put next to Porzingis and form a potentially nice 3 big rotation and they replace Melo with a solid SF in Deng. Yes they're all rentals, but it's the Knicks, they'll assume they can resign them. Maybe the Nets can do a flip of Jarrett Jack for some 2nds to give to the Knicks.

Nets get 2 players that aren't bad, are on reasonable deals and can't leave, and all they had to give up was Joe Johnson and maybe Jarrett Jack.

Who says no? Miami is giving up a lot, but if they want a win now star with many years left on his deal, you usually pay a lot. They also are getting what is essentially a 4th max player, which is hard to achieve. I think it's most iffy for the Knicks like I mentioned before because all 3 guys are expiring. But that really seems like the only reason it's not a good return on breaking up with Melo and handing the team over to Porzingis. The talent return seems adequate and it also might roll back expectations a bit if Porzingis is the top dog instead of Melo.

Probably makes him nontradable, which might be a blessing is disguise. Dell would have traded him for a crappy longer contract and a player/pick.

Now his salary comes off our books. If only the pelicans could make a pitch to a top free agent to come and play with AD.

Yup. This is what happens when the 2nd or 3rd most important person in your entire organization (Dell Demps) has goals and objectives which are completely contrary to the overall health and future of the organization.

If you have a GM who is "trying to save his job" he should immediately cease to be your GM. Yet another example why right here.
