Looking for anyone that may know a little history about our wonderful mascot.
I came across a picture at a garage sale and of course it was like 50 cents. On the back after taking it out of the frame, and started to put it in a better frame, I noticed it was signed. The signature on the back I could not make out, and it had above it "Mike I"!
Being that it was in a Garage sale and the people putting on the Garage sale didn't know that it was signed and said "Mike I", no telling what the original owner did.
So if anyone could tell me who the coach was and if this could be a picture that needs to be in the museum, or if I have something, please let me know.

What's on the front of the pic. A tiger, a person, or something else??

He is (Mike I) is standing in like a fake looking jungle , not fake as in fake trees but more like a habitat they made for him, by himself and you he is looking at the camera.

Sorry if I replied twice but I am a little new at tiger droppings so forgive me.
It is just the tiger looking at the camera, and he (Mike I/Tiger) is in a fake, meaning a real habitat to look like a jungle not fake trees, (kinda like they've always had you know)! There is no people or bars around him.

With all the changes to the campus, I don't know if they still have it but Mike I was stuffed and put on display in the Natural History Museum. It was almost directly across from the Greek Theater and Broussard Hall on Dalrymple.
It was also where they had the rattlesnake activated by a foot pad that John Ed Bradley talks about in his book.
Was a really neat place and a great place to take the kids to on game day or any other.

Thank you and you are correct. My father told me a minute ago that he is still stuffed at the Natural History Museum. I will go see it. I have yet to go in and I really have been wanting too. So, that gives me more inspiration. Thanks again buddy.

As far as the location of the Natural History Museum, I have to agree because of all the construction and I am not sure if they built a new one or its in the same place, but I'll find it and Mike the 1st is still in there.

I work at the veterinary school, and I went through the history of Mike the Tiger book. I didn't see a photo like the one that you described. Would you be willing to scan it and e-mail it to me at gguttner@vetmed.lsu.edu? I'd love to show it to Mike's veterinarian.

Responding to a guy with only 11 posts. Has he really been on the edge of his seat for 2 1/2 years waiting for an answer?
This is epic.
