It's not always that simple. My son is a very good baseball player and always gets you are a heck of a player followed by the complimentary stay in touch. LMFAO!

This is also false. Some kids need promoting more than others. That's just the nature of the recruiting game. You can't make them see what they choose not to see.

what position?

OLB, but I wasn't D-1 size.

I eventually moved to corner when I ran a 4.5 my senior year. Not to many white corners in the college ranks

Seems like a big program who gets a young kid who can immediately play varsity would know what they have.

Politics bro. I'm living it in the Woodlands/Conroe area for the last semester.

This is not necessarily true.

I've always wondered if the things like Nike combines are even looked at by coaches. It's standardized electronic testing, seems legit, but do they even look? Or is that just for these recruiting services selling subscriptions?

If you're good enough they'll find you.

There's a lot of bias in the process... the name of your HS gets kids offers

If a kid is going to be something special at the high school level he'll likely have a 7-8 TD game in middle school. That spreads around town quick which then the newspaper likely does an article or something. That's how it happens.

The word spreads around about players with talent. I'd be willing to be that the amount of sleeping five star recruits that just went unnoticed is pretty low....

Fair enough, just curious. That's actually a pretty good point. They may post an outstanding track time or football/baseball stat line and be in the papers and kind of the talk of the town. Thanks.

I'm a long way away from that. The only one left in school is years and years away.

At this age it's a crapshoot of who has physically matured early.

This. If your HS team isn't a normal pipeline, its easy to get overlooked. Scouts know the all top talent plays AAU.

Recruiting services have film on just about everyone they want to. Then a school pays student workers $5 an hour to go through the film and sum it up.
