Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes (mobile game)

I am constantly trying out mobile games looking for something new, I was only playing CoC, CC, and Boom Beach but I found this game and have been playing it for a week and love it.

I got it just yesterday. There are a lot of "mobile" elements to the game such as energy that is spent anytime you decide to play a level, tons of things that take patience to acquire (getting shards, money, training droids, equipment, character cards to play the character [Wanna play Vader? Collect him 80 times], and a number of other things).
Still pretty fun though, but don't get frustrated and buy the stuff. It seems like the game is completly designed around that concept. Bash the player until he just spends $100 on the game. Not a new thing, that was Candy Crush's bread and butter, but it's still shitty.

I started playing right when it came out around Thanksgiving. I hit max level 60 last night, but there's supposed to be an update today that raises it to 70.
My ally code is 813-869-195 if anyone wants to add. I'm assuming you'd get to play with my top character (5* Lumi), not quite sure how it chooses.

BTW it took me a while to figure out that you can retreat from battles. Very helpful for completing a Galactic War campaign.

I was going to work on acquiring him, because he frequently kicks my arse.

I got Dooku in a starter pack with my Google Reward money. It's going to take about a month to farm him, isn't it? He's nice to have on your team, yeah, but once you start facing 5* and 6* players, Dooku is going to be out in 2 or 3 hits, especially if Sid heal blocks him.
He does attack fast and often, so he can be a pain to fight against. He gets lots of bonus attacks and counters every time, but he isn't very strong so he kind of kills by 1000 cuts. A lot of times I just ignore him in a fight while I take out higher damage targets, and then heal everybody before I start attacking him and his 100% counter.
You can get Lumi to 5* from GW shipments before you farm a 3* Dooku, I think. My 5* Lumi's special takes out over half of 3* Dooku's health.
I could be wrong, but I think that energy is better spent collecting gear. Like I said, best case I think it takes almost a month to farm Dooku, and by that time you will probably have several other guys 5* or higher. Lumi, Phasma, Sid, Han, Poe, Fives, Daka, Boba, Finn, etc. are all easier to farm than Dooku. I think I would rather farm those and gear them up rather than using half my energy every day farming Dooku.
All that said, he IS very strong at 3*, and he holds his own against 4* and 4/5* mixed teams. He just won't be able to hold his own after a month or so as others get stronger.

you seem to be on top of this so i'll tell you my strategy @ the moment:
I have 4* Tarkin, 3* Talia and 4* Asajj, working on farming Boba and Sidious to team with them, I'm at about 55 shards in on both. Have saved up training droids and have over a million credits in the bank. for the moment I'm spending a lot of time simming for Cantina coins for Boba shards as well as his shard level (I think it's 3-b), while using my daily squad allowance coin on Sidious shards. I'm thinking just immediately start farming Boba and Sidious again to get them to 5* ASAP?

I haven't gotten into the game enough to see how all of the synergies work together, so I have just been choosing who to focus on by how easy they are to farm. I will probably unlock Vader later today, but he's going to be stuck at 4* for a long time like Dooku will be stuck at 3* for a while. Same with my 4* Maul. Maul has run his course for me, I rarely use him. Dooku is on the edge, he dies a lot in the dark side battles so I only 2* some stages. I will probably run Vader in place of Dooku for a while, so I'll have 5* Phasma, 5* Sid, 4* Opress/Boba, 4* Talia, 4* Vader. I'll probably get Boba to 5* to permanently bench Opress, then I will start farming Daka to replace Talia. Or maybe Daka will replace Vader and I'll have 2 healers. Either way, I don't see Vader sticking around long as others get to 5* and 6*. His only use will be in Galactic War.
I guess what I'm saying is, play who you like and see what works. There are so many combinations of buffs/debuffs, abilities, strengths and weaknesses, etc. that I don't know if there's a right answer for all of it. And that's what makes it fun for me, putting together different teams to see what happens. I just know that I don't plan on spending much (if any) money on the game, and I like characters that can be leveled in a reasonably short time.

BTW I'm also farming Kylo Ren as he seems like a fun character to play with. Heal block, AoE, counters, cooldown reset, hits hard... Seems like a cool mix of Sid, Boba, Maul, and Dooku. 55/80 on him, then if I like him I'll probably farm him up to 5*.
