When it happens, the coach who replaces Nick Saban

Is going to live under a dark shadow that will never be replicated.
That's just a cold hard fact...Sure you inherit a stock piled program of future NFL players, but with incredible expectations where things can really only go downward.
Dabo may be the guy, but he may say nah, "I don't need to live under that scrutiny, I'm good here at Clemson being a hero, they love me here"
Who wants to follow the rumblings "He is not Nick, this sucks, how long before we get a new coach?"
All this success makes it easier to stomach knowing, that one day, they will go through a patch of seasons and coaches trying to relive the greatest dynasty of the modern era.
It's impressive... likely to win a 4th National title in 6 seasons...
that's just unbelievable when you consider the competition in today's game.

would it be ironic if Bama then hires Jimbo Fisher?

2009-NC
2010
2011-NC
2012-NC
2013
2014
2015
7 seasons, not 6
impressive regardless though.

I bet $6mln or more per year changes one's perspective...

Damn sure happened at LSU. Bama is a different beast, though.

There are plenty of coaches who will jump at that chance

Why I'm not worried about replacing Saban:
- We learned that simply being "Alabama" won't win us a single game. We now know that we have pay for the best coach and give that person everything they need.
- Historically, Alabama was one of the blue bloods before Saban. We might not replicate this dynasty, but we'll have success again.
- Alabama is currently the top program in the nation and will continue to be there until Saban leaves. Plenty of coaches will love the opportunity to take that machine over.
Why I'm worried about replacing Saban:
- It took us over two decades to finally move on from Bryant.
- Saban's departure will leave a huge void of leadership. Plenty of hanger ons that used to have access will use it as a chance to get their grease paws back on the program.
- It takes a certain type of person to coach at Alabama. You have to have the political capital and strength to tell a lot of people how its going to be. You also have to deal with life in the fishbowl. Not many coaches can deal with that.
- Timing. It wouldn't matter if Alabama is the best job in all of sports if the timing of Saban's departure occurs when there aren't a lot of legitimate options.

Whoever replaces Saban will be held to the highest standards in coaching history. Winning 10 or 11 games every year won't cut it. Whoever that unfortunate person is will be looking for a job if Bama isn't immediately in the playoffs.

Lane Kiffen doesn't care about shadows.

It will 100% be Dabo if he is offered the job.
