Well roger called the cop a murderer...pretty sure he is for prison time

Considering the circumstances it seems like the shooting was justified to me

I've read the thread but I don't recall any of them actually stating that the cop deserves to go to jail. I'm waiting to see what their judgement would be .

Yes, both of them deserve jail time.

Do you think the officer deserves jail time. I'm not asking whether or not he should be fired, demoted, excused from ever owning a gun again etc. Simply, do you think he deserves jail time?

Yes

The only way to stop the over empowerment of the average street cop is to start cracking down.

I am glad my teen years were in the 80s and not in today's age of meathead Robocops. I can remember having a toy pistol in my hand when I was 15 and being approached by a cop who was cruising through a park where me and my friends were playing war games. Cop just asked to see my fake gun and after determining it was indeed a toy, he told us to be careful and have fun. Times have changed.

No kidding. We ran the neighborhood with pellet guns sometimes shooting them at each other. My god, most of us never would have survived if the USA was a fricking police state like it is now.

Really haven't heard anything that suggests Rice was threatening anyone.

Kid was killed for "brandishing a gun"? I thought we had 2nd amendment rights in this country? Why are many here saying he was "stupid" for having a gun and that he is somehow deserving of his execution?

Lots of hypocrites on this board in would seem.

it's a common theme with trigger happy cops. they intentionally put themselves into a dangerous situation and squeeze the trigger knowing that they will get off regardless of how badly they ignored their training

It's more likely they believe they are far more capable than they really are. The training simply isn't there. It's mostly men and women without combat experience training police officers. It is really not fair for the LEO's because they don't know any better.

I compare it to someone who's a huge fan of boxing, teaching people how to fight. Except they have never stepped foot in the ring.

Yep. Because 2nd amendment rights says you can intimidate people with a fake gun. I swear the stupidity of this board is baffling. Let's ignore the multiple people who claimed he was pointing it at people. Do some research before you post. Now of course the witness aren't being quoted because it doesn't fit the narrative.

Does the 2nd amendment allow you to threaten people with guns...pretty sure that's illegal in public parks

Link?

The police also lied initially.

quote:

The video revealed that the police lied about almost every aspect of the shooting.

Rice was not seated with other people. The video shows he was alone. In fact, he wasn’t seated at all. The video shows he was standing with the police officers pulled up.
Rice did not grab the gun and put it in his waistband. The video does not show the gun on the table or in Rice’s hands in the moments before the police car pulls up.
The officers did not get out of the car and tell Rice three times to put his hands up. The video shows Loehmann shot Rice within two-seconds of the officers’ arrival. Loehmann opened fire immediately after exiting thw vehicle.
Rice did not reach into his waistband and pull out the toy gun. The video shows Rice used both hands to lift up his shirt and exposed the gun before Loehmann opened fire.
Police never saw Rice brandish point the gun at them, and never saw whether it had a neon orange tip. The video does not show Rice removing the gun from his waistband at all before he Loehmann fired his weapon.

The cops were unaware of the video when they made their initial statements.

Lots of people may be intimidated by the mere presence of a gun...very subjective criteria to use for determining if someone should die.
You clearly aren't a proponent of an armed citizenry...you are a police-state loving fascist and you are the REASON we have a 2nd amendment.

I don't know where you grew up but I was taught to put my toy gun down if a cop came near me so as to prevent any accidents. Why were you still playing with toy guns at 15?

Not reading all the post. But, cops get call, person with gun in a known drug infested park in the hood, roll up, person of question reaches for gun....dumbass kid...got killed....no fault on these officers. This is not super slow motion replay to determine if the player caught the ball or not.

No cops get call saying that the kid has a toy gun and is waving it around. The cops rolled up and started shooting. The kid was stupid but so were the cops.

That is not actually how the call was dispatched to the cops. Have you read anything about this incident? They were simply told it was a gun. The pistol that rice was carrying also had the Orange tip removed to indicate that it was a toy.
