Is her accent a clue to her origin?

quote:

She speaks with what here on the planet Earth we would call a British Received Pronunciation accent, which a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away was known as the Coruscanti dialect of Galactic Basic Standard. That means her mother probably spoke with a Coruscanti dialect, which means her mother probably wasn't Leia, which means her parents are probably Luke Skywalker and some as-yet-unknown woman from the Core Worlds.

This hadn't even occurred to me but would she have a British accent if the prevailing theory is right and she is Luke's daughter and was raised (kinda) and trained by him at some point?

Or is it a daughter he doesn't even know he has?

I think they are taking that too far. She speaks with that accent because she is British.

I don't see why anyone would think she is Leia's daighter, and I really doubt she's Luke's.

John Boyega is British and they made him lose the accent for the movie. I thought it odd that they made him change his accent, but not her. Maybe she just couldn't do it convincingly?

Boyega explained it in an interview. It just didn't sound right for an escaping stormtrooper to have a British accent. He did it on the first take, JJ said, "Yeah, don't do that."

Ben kenobi having kids would be a slap in the face of his character. He's supposed to be the perfect Jedi

Pretty lame way to go about it.

If she's not Luke's, then idk how about just making an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT bloodline to talk about besides the same 3 they always do. Maybe that's just too crazy to have more than 1 bloodline in an entire galaxy

Lol wouldn't she remember this? Also in the movie she said something along the lines of "Luke Skywalker? I thought he was a myth". Even if she was lying and knew him, she certainly didn't want to go find him, she wanted to stay on/go back to Jakku.

I doubt it will happen, just throwing it out there as a possibility.

The saga films (Episodes) are about the Skywalker family. They will explore other things going on in the galaxy in the anthology series beginning with Rogue One.

That doesn't mean everyone has to be related

there is precedent in the EU for using the force to suppress or wipe someone's memory.
