What? How can you be below average on a bad defense? Secondary is crap, defensive lineman are not that good. Stephone Anothony and Kikaha have played well for rookies. If your looking for something to critique you may want to start with the front office then the coaching staff and then the veterans and finish off with the overpaid players thats not earning their salary.

They have been numerous articles about rookies by experts(what we are not) that have picked Anthony and Kekaha as best draft picks.
These articles are dated back to october time, really out of mere lack of options to praise, anthony is getting stats by volume, kikhaha's stats went down when he was out. There's been a few nice plays here and there during season. I expected anthony to be more physical, dominate and get off of blocks better, wanted to see his instincts progress a bit more than what they have. Kikaha's pass rush has been less than impressive as of late. Hoping he has a rebound year next year. I worry about Anthony's ceiling, i hope its higher than what i'm starting to think it is.
PS There's so many bitches up in here that can't discuss football. So many people want to knock me yet can't ever actually knock my opinions rationally.

He's a rookie and he's leading/calling the defense with numerous players that have little or no experience. That's an awful big task in my book. Hell, even last night they were calling plays and players were lining up in the wrong positions. He cant control that others don't know wtf to do.

I still like his ceiling as of now. I'd like to see better instincts out of him as well, but I won't start worrying until another year or 2. He's still already better than Lofton IMO. A beast DT in the middle would help him out a lot. All we have at DT is an old man that just stops the run & 2 young guys that are rotational players.

maybe. probably won't be a lot of continuity heading into next year scheme wise if we get a new HC.
The only other comments that bug me is the stupid argument "well if he gets a better DT, well if he had better secondary play, well if we had Lawrence Taylor next to him" type comments, do people not realize those additions makes EVERY player better. This isn't just what Stephone Anthony needs. Truth is, first round picks, They should be the guys that makes the others better around HIM. He should be the stud needed that makes the defense Tick.

The only other option was Kendricks. I haven't been keeping up with him in Minnesota. I do know that Perryman was playing like shite & no idea on McKinney. Anthony was our best option at the time, but he does need to improve a lot over the next 2 years.

Ray Lewis was not RAY LEWIS until about 3 years in the league.
Anthony I think has done pretty good considering the cast he has around him. He has had absolutely NO help in the middle for run support. Kikaha is a modified DE playing as an outside LB. Ellerbee has been overall a non factor this season because he has been hurt and despite Mauti's enthusiasm, he is at best a utility LB. MLB's need competent play up front and we are not getting that. Aside from Cam Jordan, the rest have under performed to a very great extent

I'm sure a lot of people thought Melvin Gordon was "good".

101 Tackles, 1 sack, 2 forced fumbles, 1 interception
As a rookie playing one of the most difficult positions on the defense.
Yeah, what a huge disappointment. He can't possibly get better either

you don't have to resort to hyperbole's to have a discussion about our first round middle linebacker pick.

I think you'll find that Anthony's numbers are quite comparable over 14 games to Ray Lewis' first year. He's the one player on the team that I have had no real problems with

Also if you look at the teams that both played on in their rookie years, it's almost an overlay.
Consider:
1996, Lewis 14 games averaged 7.8 tackles a game on a 4-12 team.
2015 Anthony 14 games averaging 7.2 tackles a game on a 5-9 team.

I think Kendricks is in the discussion for DROY and he's who I was hoping they would draft.
