BCKFC has a great relationship with pretty much the entire town of Leeville. They hold several events in Leeville each year that bring in hundreds of anglers for several days at a time. I also think it helps that we generally don't occupy the same waters as the charter captains and camp owners do. It's a very symbiotic relationship for a town that's basically struggling to survive.
go support griffins, that's kin.

I didn't think about hunting, running to bay Rambo from grand isle shouldn't cross any private areas should it?

It doesn't matter, no one will stop you. just don't run from any duck ponds.

Interesting take on the situation but it doesn't change anything. It only takes one annoyed land owner to start pressing charges.
It's really a shame there is not another club of that size to help leverage your spending power to get things changed. I don't know how big your average event is, but if it's 100+ like you say then why not use that participation in your favor? It only takes one angry land owner to ruin everything. Just one.

Geez I did not realize so much land was private down there.

I've never sat down and tried to figure it out but something like 1/10th of tidal marsh is publicly accessible. The rest is either private or can not be accessed. Fouchon beach is a good example of public property with access cut off by adjoining land owners.
If you used Terrebonne as an example, there is about 600k acres of marsh. Give or take a few thousand. Of that total, roughly 15 thousand of it is public land.

The Wisner WMA in Leeville no longer exists so some of that area may be private now as well?

Also have never done the math, but it's overwhelming when it hits you, just how much of "our" tidal waters are actually under private ownership. I'm not sure about the 1/10 you claim, you may be correct, but its WAY more than 50%. It really just comes down to if the owner enforces his right to run you off or not. It's truely that simple.

simply because it's a hobbyist/outreach type of organization. They don't get involved in the political arenas.

If you added up White lake, Atchafalaya, PAC, PAL, Biloxi, Rockefeller, and Delta you get roughly 500k acres. We have about 4 million total acres of marsh. If you throw in another 150-200k acres of state owned property scatted below the saltwater line it brings the total up to about 15%.
That is a pretty generous estimate. I would even be willing to say it could creep up on 20%. But even then, not all of it is accessible. Parts of Rockefeller are closed at times. Some of the WMA's include open water bays and lakes, ect ect.

DSD and I hit Leeville today. I skunked and DSD had a few nice drum pull him around. No reds no decent trout.
DSD was reppin' the skies out, thighs out rule even at 40 degrees.

Hell yeah baw, I've been waiting all year for this weather. It would have been a little better without all that wind though.
