only those that are FHA or VA loans....those have government backing
'technically' Fannie does employ policies which are mandated by the Board where there is government influence (possibly like this one) - but they are not supposed to be 'bailed out' or subsidized by the taxpayers anymore as a result of Dodd-Frank
That being said, we all know what will happen if Fannie goes under (again)....

The big question is why am I first hearing about this on a primarily sports related regional message board. This is some serious shite and no one is talking about it???

That's crazy. I really didn't think they were underwriting those kinds of mortgages anymore. But hey more power to you man.
There are so many different options available to you as a first time home buyer that it's actually scary easy to get one. One of my co-workers got something called a rural loan and basically didn't pay anything but fees. A lot of younger professionals like myself are making good money but have so much student debt and other fixed costs that it's almost impossible to save up the 10-20% that I'd like to before purchasing. But now I'm paying less then I would be if I were renting and I'm eventually going to get some equity out of this thing.

Ah, that's right, that's right. Thanks.

Renting is not necessarily the evil you make it out to be. It helps low income families not have to worry about major repairs they can't afford.
It also keeps them paying without any equity, and costs more than a mortgage and in many cases the landlords are absentee on low income properties.

I just find it laughable that people are upset about this, when there are programs in Orleans and Jefferson to buy a house with 0% down AND a $50,000 grant (if you stay in the house for ten years, paid up front).
They built a house in my neighborhood and did this and a lot of people are upset.

As soon as I hear the phrase wasting money on rent, I understand the argument coming after it is moronic.
Yes in a lot of cases, paying rent isn't the best play, but if you can barely afford the house, you're setting yourself up for failure with upkeep, appliances, and other shite.

I think that's probably because it doesn't impact them. That impacts Orleans and Jefferson. Not the US as a whole. And again, this looks eerily similar to the shite that killed the economy about seven years ago
