could Tony Upchurch play LB?

No

Not doubting you or saying you're wrong, but can you elaborate on why you say no?

any chance they convince Williams to go over?

The reason he came to LSU is because they finally offered him at RB. They originally offered him as an ATH which assumed he would be moved to LB. He has been flirting with the idea of transferring apparently due to not getting touches.

Fair enough if he thinks he can get somewhere that will get him the carries and exposure needed to improve his eventual draft stock at RB.

Why would Lacouture leave school?

I'm shaking my head at this one too. He won't be a combine freak, don't think he will have any standout tape, and doesn't have any stats that wow you either. He's a solid player, but I would picture him as a 5th-7th round pick at this point.

I doubt he's ever made more than 20 tackles his entire life. He's already going to be a junior so the learning curve would be huge.

Lac is going to be a solid late round pick. If he can stay healthy and get stronger, he'll be a nice NFL backup. I like his stature.

Fair enough. Didn't know if he played any defense in HS. As others have pointed out, the cupboard is fairly bare and looks like we'll have to find a JUCO player, a stud in this recruiting class, or catch lightning in a bottle with a conversion within the team.

While I don't disagree, I don't think this equals to leaving school early unless he's set to graduate. Otherwise, I think he should complete his degree and hope to improve his draft stock next year.

Yeah I didn't mean this year. Especially after having to get a screw into his foot. Next year will do wonders for him.

OK, my bad. I thought you were agreeing with the other poster who said they thought he would leave early.

Have Adams hit the juice and move him to Will. Push Arden Key back to Mike. Move Dillon Gordon to DE. Pay U High to graduate Dylan Moses early and give his dad a new house and a job on staff to have him play Sam. Simple.

Why do you think this. He's honestly one of our fastest linebackers.

Re: DTs. Here are all the DTs on this year's roster. Two Srs will be gone, possibly LaCouture. That leaves three non-true freshmen DTs on roster for next year. Perhaps there are some OL that can switch over... but depth could be be a problem

Greg Gilmore 6-4 313 So
Quentin Thomas 6-4 313 Sr
Mickey Johnson 6-1 329 Sr
Frank Herron 6-4 286 So
Christian LaCouture 6-5 307 Jr
Devon Godchaux 6-4 293 So

We are gonna return Lacouture, Godchaux, Herron and Gilmore. Add Edwin Alexander, hopefully Rashard Lawrence and that is a solid 3 deep rotation.

because he spent the entire EMU game getting torched by a 1-11 team's Tight end.

When he signed I couldn't believe they offered him. He isn't the caliber of athlete that LSU should have at linebacker. He's painfully slow.

Are you talking about the same Donnie Alexander from Karr? The one who is a 6'1 210lbs LB / Safety tweener(a lot of people thought he would move to safety in college)? The one who was offered because of his speed, instincts, and athleticism and is 1 of the first guys down the field on kickoff coverage?

He's painfully slow?

Yeah. He's painfully slow. Seth Fruge was also one of the first to tackle on kick off coverage. Donnie is always takes bad angles and gets burnt by SEC offensive players. Hopefully he gets better.

Been thinking about our Linebacker depth for next year as well and its scary. Seems like we got some extra DE's that might need to get moved back to the linebacker spot.

You are all looking at this wrong. With the DT/DE we have and the DT/DE we have coming in, guys like Arden Key, Rahssan Thornton, Fowler, Micheal Divinity, Voohries, Riley, and Alexnader can all play OLB in a 3-4 or a 4-3.

Then you take a big fast guys like Teuhema, M.J. Patterson, Deondre Clark, or Isiah Washington move them to ILB/OLB depending on running the 3-4 or 4-3.

With Ed Alexander coming in at DT, he could easily play Nose Guard in a 3-4 with guys like Davon Godcheaux, Frank Herron, Lewis Neal, and Christian LaCouture playing DE/DT in a 3-4 and probably Greg Gilmore backing up Big Ed Alexander we would have a ton of great OLB and enough to fill the ILB spots.

This is just counting guys we have and guys we know are coming in.

If we get just 4-5 of these guys, we have even more opportunity to play a solid 3-4/4-3 Defense, (Rashaun Smith, Shavar Manuel, Rashard Lawerence, Derrick Brown, Ben Davis, Lyndell Wilson, Rashan Gary, McCulloch, Kenyon Joiner, Stephon Taylor, Emmit Gooden, and Travez Moore(Grades issue).)

There are even more DT/DE out there that are either possibilities to flip to LSU or are flying under the radar, like 2-3 star simply due to no attention.

I think think between Steele, BDP, and Coach O, they are lining up some really good players for LSU's future.
