I believe he was a sophomore on the 1969 team. One of the best LSU teams ever that really could have won a national title.
He was one of 4 all-Americans. Mike Anderson and Tommy Casanova were others on that team.

Ronnie was one of the very best defensive lineman that ever played at LSU. He was powerful and quick as a cat. It is a shame that he never played in the NFL. At that time The NFL all used the 4/3 defense. He was intense and relentless.

I watched him play at LSU. Great Defense back then and he was a big part of it.
Teared up about his Dad.

Thanks for Sharon. A real man, playing a real man's game.

Not one of the best, but the very best defensive lineman in LSU history. He also played on my favorite LSU team which was the great 1969 team that was robbed from playing in the National Championship game against Texas. If LSU had played Texas ( who ducked LSU for Notre Dame) in the Cotton and the game was still be played right now Texas would not have scored. This was the greatest defense in LSU history and one of the finest in college football history. ONE STAT I WILL SHARE. Run defense was 39 yards a game.

An LSU legend--undersized, underrated by other teams, but fast as lightning, and always knew where the ball was going. Just ask Notre Dame how good he was...LOL!!!!

I was a friend of Maxie Estay at LSU during our freshman year. He was a fun loving guy who would have been a good player for the Tigers. I think about him every season and miss him.

He was also the only one on the team coaches included that could make art cantrelle listen to reason.
They talked the same language.
