just like Herbstreit and all these other analysts pontificating to LSU fans what we deserve and should be happy with. look around - EVERYONE has a QB.

I'm done. Y'all must have failed in class as well. Spouting off these numbers while not understanding anything behind them.

Does your graph show why our qb can't rum the same freaking play as the other 10 guys on 4th and goal from the 1 when the coach is coaching for his life after a timeout? Sure it doesn't. Because it's not the qb.

What are some examples of QBs that were garbage as sophomores but we're good as juniors?
Garrett Grayson Colorado St
Trevone Boykin TCU
Brandon Allen Arkansas
Dak Prescott Miss St
Brandon Doughty WKU - wasn't garbage but his jump was insane with a new QB coach and OC (14 TDs 14 ints to 49 TDs 10 ints). He went from 1 TD every 26.7 passes to 1 TD every 11.3 passes. He increased his yards per attempt by 1.2, and his TD int ratio went from 1:1 to 4.9:1. His int rate dropped from 1 int every 26.7 passes, to 1 int every 55.2 passes.
And it's not just sophomore to junior, it's 1st year starter to 2nd year. Look at Mett for example. Look at Clint Trickett. Rakeem Cato from freshman to sophomore. Teddy Bridgewater from freshman to sophomore.
I'll do guys from this division.
Prescott RS SO to RS JR
7.3 ypa 1940 yards (58.4%) 10 TDs 7 ints
8.7 ypa 3449 yards (61.6%) 27 TDs 11 ints
Brandon Allen RS SO to RS JR
6.0 ypa 1552 yards (49.6%) 13 TDs 10 ints
6.7 ypa 2285 yards (56%) 20 TDs 5 ints
So just using Brandon Allen's increase, here is a hypothetical for Harris
Brandon Harris SO to JR (340 attempts in jr season like Allen)
7.5 ypa 1904 yards (53.1%) 12 TDs 5 ints
8.2 ypa 2788 yards (59.5%) 19 TDs 4 ints

Sounds like the head coach should be held accountable for almost a decade's worth of shitty QB recruiting and roster management.

I would love to agree with all of this and be on the Harris is going to be awesome train. But football isn't just stats, it's putting points on the board. It's making first downs when you need to make first downs. You can put stats up where our offense would look like major league competitors. Unfortunately, we all witnessed this train wreck or pop gun offense as it's called. How many 3 and out's? It's not the idea that Harris can improve, it's the idea that even when he improves, how awful will he still be? I had high hopes for him, but his only accuracy seems to be 50yds down the field.
Yes, maybe he did have an ok completion rate, but was it when it mattered or when we finally pounded the cupcake team we played into submission with LF? I seem to remember a few games where we came out chunking the ball, only to have to abandon it and start our ground and pound.
In the early games we could put some blame on the receivers, but in reality I'm sure they didn't expect their qb to throw for 15 yds with the same velocity as his 60 yd throw. The only good news was that he was throwing the shorts so hard that even the defense couldn't catch it.
So again, it's not if he can improve, I'm sure he will. Will he improve enough to give LF the breathing room he needs to run the ball? The real question is why do we have such dismal QB play at LSU?

QBs tend to get better with more years in college
Is that okay, RIF?
Actually, it doesn't matter. Your new name is RIF.
And I'm going to create a new classification of LSU fans of whom you will be one of the founding fathers. Congratulations! The new classification shall be called the "Shibboleths." It's a big word, but you call look it up.
The principle distinguishing feature of the Shibboleths is the use of a trite expression in place of analysis.
Your post is a perfect example.
When I say "QBs tend to get better with more years in college," and then support the thesis with solid analysis and a wealth of facts, RIF (that's you), a member of the Shibboleths replies: "LSU...does not compute."
What I find particularly appealing about your post as an example of a Shibboleth post is that my post supporting the thesis "QBs tend to get better with more years in college" actually includes a lot of analysis and facts about . . . LSU QBs. I don't know if you didn't read it or just didn't understand it. Nevertheless, as a Shibboleth, you felt compelled to post: "LSU...sorry doesn't compute."
Damn, RIF, that's a perfect Shibboleth post.
Oh, and RIF, try again:
These graphs clearly show that as LSU QBs get more years in the system, their production tends to increase.
Lee
QB Rating 117.60 increased to 156.62
Comp% 52.% increased to 65.0%
YPA 7.3 increased to 8.5
Jefferson
QB Rating 121.34 increased to 158.97
Comp% 46.3% increased to 66.1%
YPA 6.6 increased to 8.7
Mettenberger
QB Rating 116.63 increased to 155.86
Comp% 54.9% increased to 64.5%
YPA 6.9 increased to 9.6
SEC Regular Season Games
RIF, there are four QBs mentioned in the information I just posted. Do you see how the information (which was also posted in the OP) tends to support the thesis: "QBs tend to get better with more years in college." Now just to add a bit more information: All four QBs, Lee, Jefferson, Mettenberger, and Harris were or are LSU QBs.
So, RIF, your Shibboleth post: "LSU...sorry doesn't compute" was really moronic. It was rebutted before you even posted it.

hey, buddy, I hope you didn't read dandy don this morning. he was posting stats on lsu from last year to this year. he had the nerve, the audacity, the unmitigated gall to suggest that "statistics rarely tell the whole story." don't worry, I sent him an e-mail to straighten him out.
seriously, I see you getting furious with a lot of posters who basically agree with your premise, but don't agree that stats tell everything. it's obvious you're a real numbers guy, and have a real passion for these stats. they are significant, valid, and we can learn from them.
but they're not everything...

It's pretty uncanny how similar Harris' stats were this year as compared to 2012 Mett. We still have Harris for two more years, he's going to be a great QB. Just has to go through the growing pains.

The lights looked a little bright last season for Harris, i think after another training camp he will be fine

Having one good QB season out of 3 on average for LSU is not acceptable but this is what we are getting. Harris regressed at the end of the year. Quarterbacks are NOT developed at LSU. At some point we are not going to be able to attract top quarterback talent because of this. I am surprised this in not already the case.

Hey man, I appreciate all that time you took. It looks really nice. But the whole premise is the same as "water is wet".
I would say "Thanks captain obvious", but you put a lot of effort into it. And really it is nice to see someone try and bring some positivity to these parts. Do you know what I took away from your wall of stats?
We most likely will lose 2 games with any Les Miles coached team. That means it's very unlikely for us to get back to Atlanta. Also, if you really want to boil Les Miles' success down to any one aspect it doesn't concern the qb issue.
The only way Les Miles has won anything of significance during his tenure of 11 years is when he has had an elite level defense.
It doesn't matter how much Harris improves because even if he sets records like Mett we will not win anything significant because we will not have an elite defense next year.
But let's keep rallying the troops about how we will improve at the qb spot. It won't make a difference.
I bleed purple and gold, and I've enjoyed the run. Unfortunately for me, I'm stuck on the Apathy Train.
I'm afraid that there's a lot of us stuck on it together. We want to get off, believe me we do. Problem is that is moving too fast and shows no signs of slowing down.

"statistics rarely tell the whole story." , but most of the remaining story is opinion, which is worth zilch, without said stats, imo.
I applaud any poster, posi or nega, that can bring substance with his/her opinion.
