As a regular lurker and rare poster of this board I've seen some of you have very good taste in music. I'm someone who loves what they listen to but it's all music from the past. There are some current groups today I like and have gone see in person but they're not really in the genre I love.
I'm big into some of the old blues-blues rock, southern rock groups. Guys like Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Cream, Derek and the Dominos, SRV. Now I realize some of this is real niche music, guitar driven helps. Anybody have any new or more recent groups/artists somewhat similar to this type of music. I've gotten into groups like black keys, Gary Clark Jr, but can't find much else. thanks guys.

Based on what you mentioned here, you will definitely like The Tedeschi Trucks Band.

Alabama Shakes
All them witches
The war on drugs - lost in the dream is easily my favorite album of the decade. It's
Nothing like Cream, SRV, etc but it's definitely for the guitar lovers. Has a folksy style vocal similar to Bob Dylan. Definitely a Dire Straits and Tom Petty vibe as well.

My Morning Jacket is probably my favorite contemporary band. It sounds like you're into more guitar driven stuff. Their album "It Still Moves" is probably my favorite, and is the most guitar heavy--it's a good place to start.

One Big Holiday

In Its Infancy from "The Waterfall"

Lay Low from "Z"

The Sheepdogs are a Canadian band with a bit of a southern rock/Allman Brothers vibe to 'em. Play some pretty simple but classy numbers:

You would prlly really like Bonamassa, Jonny Lang, Richie Kotzen, Davy Knowles, Slash' last couple of albums if you want heavier rock as well as a band called Blindstone. Also, perhaps Black Country Communion if you want a modern Zeppelin type groove based rock.
