Any chance that he can beat out Harris in the offseason?

Underrated post. Anyone have any knowledge on this kid?

Have only seen video on him. From that video he looks to be a better passer than the current 1 and 2 QBs. Will have to see what the spring game looks like

Etling is not the answer. Etling is the question.

Etling will challenge Harris this spring. He is a better passer, more accurate, not as mobile though. The receivers will like him that's for sure, but will the coaches. After the past four games, I can't imagine them not giving him a fair shot at the spot. We shall see.

It's worth a shot. There needs to be a full blown battle royale for QB in the spring.

This question leads to the bigger question:
Why can't Miles recruit and develop a quarterback that can play at least passably in the SEC?

Etling will have a real chance.

The issue here is Oline. Mountanius slow footed lineman built for power running game. Although sounding contradictory...the tackles had trouble with bull rushes from lighter DE's. Feet are too damn slow.

He will not get a chance unless Brandon and Anthony get arrested.

Harris was progressing fine up until the Alabama game. Since then, he's been mentally shot. It's a complete confidence issue between the ears right now with him & not a lack of talent issue. His previous performances especially the Florida game, showed what Harris is truly capable of as a passer but has to get out of this funk.

Lots of guys on the roster better suited to play guard. Like you said, you have to quick feet to play tackle. Alexander & Hawkins have had their struggles with pass rushers coming off the edge this season.

A 3k passer like Mettenberger, why can't we get a Mettenberger style QB to play at LSU?

Development? You do remember that Harris was recruited by everyone in the country don't you and that this is his first season starting. His biggest iimprovement will be next season. Just like Met

Hope Etling gets a legitimate shot

Etling definitly gets a shot. He only has 2 yrs of eligibility. Why even bring him in unless your gonna give him a shot. Especially since Harris has not locked the position down

Working on that now. Be patient.

Both Jennings and Harris have a full year of experience.
We all saw how that went down.
IMO this position should be wide open.

So your idea is to get some other college to evaluate then recruit and develop the QB for a year.
Then for some reason he has to go JUCO for a year.
Then he has to come here and sit for a year.
Then he plays crappy his first year
Then finally as a 5th year senior with two legit high level NFL receivers, have a passing game that 40-50 schools have regularly with guys that will never play in the NFL.
BRILLIANT!!!!
