Alexander - Why no talk of his involvement?

Why LSU hired him in the first place is beyond me. His PR disaster last spring (LSU bankruptcy) warranted his firing.
He is Alleva's boss.
Clean house. Alexander goes first.

Because he has had proven success at large 4 year public universities...and continued that progression at LSU.

It was intentional to embarrass the State Legislature and Governor's Office for their ineptitude and actually get them to protect LSU's budget for once.
It worked.

And let him handle it until it got so out of hand that he had to step in and clean it up.

It is hardly Alexanders fault Jindal proposed cutting funding to LSU to the extent it would not longer be honest to call it a state university.

Yes. The mess had been created. It needed to be cleaned up as swiftly as possible.

You can thank Edwin Edwards for LSU's financial problems every time the state faces a shortage.

Don't forget Alexander was brought in because Jindal cleared the deck of LSU leadership. It's quite ironic that a "conservative Republican" that Jindal portrays himself as has actually ushered in a return to the politicized, weak, and underfunded LSU of the populist Edwards days.
A strong LSU sought by Foster via Emmert is all but a memory.

Professors are merely public servant leeches like all others, and any one is as good as another....so if the most highly qualified professors leave for what they see as more stable employment to another institution, or turn down an offer by LSU for the same reasons...it is not as all seen as a loss.

It took him 2 weeks to "step in and clean it up"??
Alexander has allowed LSU's name to be dragged through the mud nationally in 2015 - through is actions and his inactions.
Plus, he is a tax and spend liberal. He should have stayed in California.

I'd love to see LSU become a Michigan of the South in terms of academics.

Exactly. 100$ correct. Alleva had the look of a man that had just had his head handed to him.

Week 1:
Joe - King, don't worry. I've got a plan in place should we lose to Ole Miss in embarrassing fashion.
Week 2:
King - Well?
Joe - Going to hire Jimbo. He's going to make the move after the UF game.
King - And if Jimbo reneges?
Fisher backs out on Saturday morning...
Joe - Uhhhhh

He led the way for protecting funding from cuts for just about everything except higher ed and health/hospitals.
Jindal doesn't escape blame either. He did virtually nothing to change this. In fact, voters approved recent ammendments to protect a large chunk of funding for health/hospitals from cuts which will hurt higher ed even more during future budget problems.
As for LSU, Alexander is awful and should be let go. I don't care which politician brought him in. If he disagreed with Alleva's tactics and was concerned about LSU's reputation, he would have put a stop to this mess way before last night.

My response is more suited for the Political Board. I'll just say that LSU could and should do better than Alexander.

If your name was F. King Alexander, would you keep using the "F"?
