Interesting perspective from a FSU board.

The LSU board is really getting some of you excited.
There is a major issue at play here, and it's called a DIVORCE. I realize a lot of college HFCs don't deal with this, which is why LSU fans are popping off every rumor as fact, but the reality is Jimbo probably can't move unless he is willing to give up joint custody of his kids, which is highly unlikely given what a family man he is. He also has a child that is not healthy. I would be FLOORED if Jimbo Fisher was willing to give all that up for a lateral move, and a slight pay bump, when he is already paid 4.5 million dollars.
Second, correct me if I am wrong, but you have to file paperwork with the state to leave your children in a case of joint custody. This is a fairly lengthy process, one that would have had to have started at the beginning of the football season.
Common sense doesn't add up on this one. Last - Chris, Newberg, has anyone checked public records with the state? I could be wrong, but at least in my home state, you have to file paperwork with the state to leave if you are going through a divorce. And I believe the divorce has to be finalized. Unless he would leave under the terms of a separation. However, that would have serious ramifications in the courts should his eventual ex-wife seek custody. And the courts might determine that he loses joint custody IF he leaves for a lateral move with a pay bump, when he is already making 4.5 million. That would definitely be making a decision for yourself over your children in the courts eyes.
So the long and the short of this; it isn't a cut and dry off-season coaching jump. There are so many major life factors in this thing that I HIGHLY doubt the rumors are remotely close to true.
1) He would have to have some resolution to custody with his children to leave state.
2) He would have to likely leave with Candi to Louisiana, which I HIGHLY doubt it happening given what most families are dealing with after a situation like this.
3) If he would leave without a legal resolution in place, he would greatly risk losing custody of his children to Candi
All that said, could the rumors be true? Yeah, they may have done all of this behind the scenes, without a leak on the FSU side - HIGHLY improbable, but could have happened.
Or you are just dealing with a bunch of uneducated LSU fans popping off at the mouth over every rumor. This is an unusual case, and their justification of not firing a coach with a buyout to be the main reason he is coming, defies all logic when it comes to greater issues in life, like divorce, custody, and the fact that Jimbo has a kid that isn't healthy.
If this divorce issue wasn't looming, I would actually believe it could be true. But with all the legal ramifications, as well as moral and family issues going on here, I believe this about as much as I believe there are aliens amongst us.

the divorce along with his kids have always been the ? for me.

This is too much logic for The Rant to comprehend

If they think Jimbo Fisher doesnt have some very good, very high-priced family law attorneys taking care of this, they're idiots.

if this guy gets paid a shite ton to come to LSU vs. not as much to go to FSU, isn't in the old lady's interest to hastily agree to just go along with it?
That is, until such time as she shacks up with some other mark.

We like to refer to them as "well connected" around here

I posted this divorce info days ago. Logic tells you it's not Jimbo.

If this is all indeed true, then very simple question: Why hasn't Jimbo come flat out and said "I am not leaving FSU for LSU or any other school...end of story" ???

That's hilarious. Like the court's going to say, "Well, the SEC is a better conference top-to-bottom, but LSU is a lateral move..."

He's right that in Florida joint custody would require a filing process and some kind of agreement between the parents and/or family Court Judge order.
But, that's if there is joint custody. That may not be settled or maybe it is since she's the source of infidelity. Maybe he has full custody.
The much more likely scenario is that they both agree to continue the divorce and both relocate. Supposedly, based purely on message board hearsay, their child with health issues sees a specialist in Louisiana. The family lived here before, so it could be that both parents like the idea of a change of scenery.
I guess we'll see in a couple of days. No way this Jimbo thing goes past Monday.

Thats incredible full of the stupid
Why on Gods green Earth would Jimbo file anything before hes accepted the job??????
And he cant accept the job, til Miles vacates it
Which would also mean no pro athlete, no movie star, no pilot could ever accept a new job because they hadnt pre filed moving papers with the court
Wow

You need court permission to move your children out of state, you can be an absent parent (sans children) all you want. I stopped reading when he said Jimbo needed permission to leave.

Divorce can get in the way and/or slow down a lot of career moves. We were starting a bank 10 years ago. Our 2nd largest shareholder was going through a divorce. We could not move forward until finalized. Was stalling everything. Finally, largest shareholder called the guy's soon to be ex-wife, and ended that aspect of the dispute. Point is, everything is negotiable.

Dude, no judge is going to say "you cant trade Blake Bortles until his divorce is finalized"
Its ludicrous
Its ludicrous

Certainly an interesting wrinkle to be considered. However, Jimbo's ex wife lived in BR for a long time and, as far as is known, enjoyed her time in BR. Who is to say that she doesn't wish to move away from Tallahassee having no reason to need to live there any longer? Perhaps a move back to BR is actually a desirable positive alternative for her vs alternative to staying in Tallahassee where she's only been a few years and actually mutually beneficial to their custody negotiations?
In any case, it's all speculation to say the divorce and custody issues are a definitive negative to him leaving or stay in at FSU.

FSU is not going down without a fight. No way this does not turn into an ugly public brawl over who gets Jimbo.
