I agree that Hornsby gives us another outside shooter, so that we can play the hot hand. Victor will give us the down low presence that Simmons can drop off to.
I also think Ben is wanting to establish his teammates rather than be a one on five. He will be more assertive as the season progresses.

I almost think that AB was trying to hard because of so many scouts.
I didn't have a problem with him continuing to shoot except when he shot the 3 with no one under the goal, 25 seconds into the shot clock, up by 5 points with 2 min to go.
CJJ should have sat him instantly as that probably cost us the game.
Hopefully he will learn from that.
Simmons needs to be more aggressive and I think he will over time. If our perimeter guys shoot better, mainly AB, Simmons has close to 20 assists.
I will be interested to see how Victor helps. Just having someone down low to help Simmons should help. Man I wish Brian Bridgewater had Brad's height.

Why don't we run the ISO play where you line all four players along the perimeter on one side of the court and have Ben one on one on the other side? It's the typical nba ISO. Haven't seen it yet. The ISO we run isolates Ben at the top of the key which you have to have a lights out shooter for it to work and Ben is not. It leads to too much congestion having our four players lined up on the baseline.
The past two games are 100% coaching losses. Easily winnable. It's embarrassing. Same shite just a different year.

He'll certainly improve in that regard, but even Lebron took years to fully progress out of that mindset
Yesterday, the pass to a wide open Gray was a great one, but Gray wasn't expecting it, Simmons had a good look. Gray gets stuffed under the goal.
It's gonna be a hard transition out of those split second decisions

No it isn't. The funny thing is yesterday this board said all we were running is ISOs
NBA ISOs almost always have a guy in both corners. Would be stupid spacing not to

how does Ben only have 6 shot attempts the entire game against nc state?
I will be saying this a lot this year. Scoring and shooting is not his game. He loves to pass and that is his first look then scoring. He reads a defense better than anybody in college basketball. The rest have to make their open jump shots especially Blakeney. That would open up the lane for Benny. Also Blakeney needs to learn when it is not his night he can't just keep throwing it up there. Get your teammates involved.

Right now it is hard to discern any type of OFF. You see half-hearted pick/rolls, a few perimeter passes, then panic time...poss clock ticking....chuck a 3 pointer. Where are the backdoor cuts, alley oops, inside out type plays, etc. LSU looks very dysfunctional on OFF, and that is all about coaching.

AB had a bad shooting game. The dude is still shooting mid 40's percentage wise.
When there are 3 guys in the lane sagging off of you, you pass and get wide open 3's. I can assure you we won't miss that many wide open 3's again. When Hornsby gets back and people continue to sag...watch out.
In the two tournament games, Blakeney was 3 for 17 from three. That is dismal no way around it. Except for Quarterman the rest of the team wasn't much better. The fact is that we have been missing those wide open threes and until we start making them then we will lose games.

Yall are crazy if you think we run the ISO with Simmons. For sure haven't run it tonight and here we are getting out played by Charleston.
