Would Miles be a good hire for a school like Illinois or Purdue?

With his Big Ten roots and a little bit lower stress I think he could do well at a school like this if he still has the fire. He would bring instant name recognition and excitement from a recruiting standpoint

Yes, they would be happy with 8-9 wins a year.

He's a little old to start over.

That's definitely the downside. He would likely retire there though unlike a MAC coach, but he might only have 6-8 years

Also curious because he doesn't seem like he's done coaching

You haven't been paying much attention then. I've never seen Les look so exhausted, sad, and frustrated.

We wouldn't even have this discussion had he not hired his moron friends to manage offense, defense, and special teams. LSU has given him the biggest assistant budget, and he went and got 3 besties.

he deserves a much better ending than this, but all he had to do was make some decent hires.

Miles will upgrade the talent level immensely wherever he ends up, if he loses the LSU job. Say what you will about Louisiana's recruiting being fertile ground, but he has recruited a lot of highly sought after players from other states. A lot of schools would be thrilled to have a guy that can recruit nationally with a career record of Miles.

I think he's clearly done at LSU and I understand why, but he certainly doesn't seem ready to retire. His teams still play hard and he's still recruiting well. I think in less of a pressure cooker he could still do pretty well, the big question is if someone wants him at his age

Miles without elite talent = dumpster fire.

My sources tell me he's headed to aTm as Spavital's replacement.

I don't think he's going to out talent many teams at Illinois or Purdue.
