He'll post the same 2-3 losses a year here

We aren't losing 2-3, more like 3-5 now..

Any ways, he provides balance on all phases. There is no perfect coach. He would be an outstanding proven hire.

He is still undefeated in his bowl games. You realize we have won 2 bowl games in 6 years. Let that sink in for a moment.

LSU.. with all that prep use to be a beast.. Our last win, vs Iowa.. was a fricking 21-14 struggle.

Jimbo has his teams prepared in big time games.

I mean seriously, I don't see how you could cry about the hire. There is no perfect coach. I would be thrilled with less than 3 losses a season again.. and possibility for NC contention here and there.

Again, the great thing is.. he has done his QB success with complete pocket passers.. so it wasn't like as if he had some freak of nature like Cam Newton or Tim Tebow that beat teams physically with dual threat.. I would love a player like that, but they are rare.. He did it with complete pocket passers..

Period.

He can make no talent morons look amazing

I think the mark of a good coach is 1st round busts.

IF you can make Jamarcus Russell, EJ Manuel, and Christian Ponder look worthwhile you know how to coach a QB

He's won the ACC 3 put of 5 years and lost to Georgia tech on a fluke play and really should have beaten Clemson. Oh and he has also been in the CFP and won a national title the year before so there's that.

So basically he recruits well and wins a lot of games, but more often than not loses a couple he should win, struggles in the big game, and gets a pass for winning that one natty.

For 7 of the last 8 years.

Actually, I don't blame the qb's. It's the system that Les Miles puts them in.

Hiring him would seem to be a safe hire, but not a homerun

I absolutely think he could be a homerun hire just stealing him like that from FSU. He was brought up under the wing of one of the greats of coaching and he has brought FSU back to prominence so why not us if we can reel him in.

Ummm Les gave Perrilloux plenty of chance, Perrilloux was the frick up on that one not Les.

You miss the point..

Winston had his share of events unfold and he stood by him.. then suspended him one game.

Perrilloux missed a meeting and had a fake id. It was typically stupid crap.. There may have been another incident with him having a gun? But I don't remember. but why not suspend him.. like Fisher did with his star player..

When faced with a 10 man front defense repeatedly he can call more plays than directly run into it.

Kelly seems like he would be more like Miles than anyone from a "stubborn" mentality.. my way will work.. I will impose it..

I don't see the comparison of Jimbo to Les whatsoever. He left pretty quick once Miles was here.

Why isn't this thread, like all the others mentioning Jimbo, getting whacked?...

Yup, I agree he was a bad apple to say the least. Great talent but he just had too many off the field issues

So you're using this current season, the program's first after a No. 2 overall pick and Heisman Trophy winner has moved on to the NFL, in which they will likely go 10-2 with a fluke loss and a tough road loss to the #1 team in the country as the basis to post such drivel? Derp.

He was suspended...

Les was loved when he finally kicked Perrilloux off the team.
Jimbo was raked against the coals for sticking by Winston.

Now people love that he stuck by him... odd how narrative changes when people want Les gone

I blame Jordan Jefferson.

Hell, I blame him for a lot of things.

The 2011 championship, that fricking shovel pass to the fricking linebacker

If he isn't a dick to a security guard the cops don't get called and Tyrann Matthieu is back on the team in 2013.

Hate to break it to you gramps but LSU is about to go back into the wilderness whether we like it or not. Hiring Jimbo wouldn't be the end of the world and likely keeps us hovering around 3rd in the west, but to believe that he's magically going to start going undefeated in a tougher conference is shiny new toy syndrome at its finest.

Replace the word "offense" with "defense" and Jimbo's tenure will be exactly like Miles'. He'll win plenty of games but it won't be enough.
