That is exactly why the industry should be regulated and taxed just like any other.
I agree.
Make the prostitutes buy a license every year and mandatory STD checks every 6 months.
No street walking but in calls, out calls, and brothels legal.

Is the Lily Pad still open on 90 in Little Saigon? They were full service back in 06/07. A lot of the guys I was doing recovery work with used to go there.

Two issues I would have.. First, I would be nervous police would bust in the door and there would be a giant article in the paper about a massage parlor sting with my picture in it. I've seen those before. How embarrassing.
That's why they go meet high end customers

Second, a lot of these women are sex slaves, and were brought to America and forced to work long hours jerking off old dudes for cash. It's gotta be a pretty miserable life.
That makes it better

Which is why it really bothers me that the authorities know this and just don't care. They're not "hurting anyone" so they don't devote any effort to investigating. Ignoring the fact that these girls are more often than not, sex slaves who aren't being paid and held against their will.
All they have to do is legalize and regulate and this problem vanishes. So no, I don't support spending any resources on a problem that only exists Bc of paternalistic intrusive bible thumping government policy.

We might as well legalize it, regulate it, and tax it
I like the sentiment, but have to disagree with the outcome. It just should be de-criminalized. Let people make whatever arrangements they are going to make, just keep them private. No brothels, licenses, parlors or whatever. Keep the advertising to message boards and online. No street signs, public pandering or radio/tv ads. People will find a way and the government should stay out of it..

The women doing that for $100 would probably turn your stomach if you saw them naked

It's incredibly naive to believe that government regulation would stop people from doing illegal activity.

The problem with these joints is the women are sex slaves a lot of the times.
Posted on 11/22/15 at 1:21 pm to biglego
It's highly regulated and Amsterdam and there's still plenty of sex slaves.
Posted on 11/22/15 at 1:28 pm to cwil177
This has been common knowledge for years

Legalized prostitution should fund sex education and the fight against human trafficking.
Posted on 11/22/15 at 1:50 pm to jmarto1
Consenting adults engaging in a transaction should be legal. Illegal girls who are essentially held as sex slaves is horrible and fighting that is an appropriate use of government resources.
IMO the fact that it is illegal is what makes it easier for these places to engage in human trafficking. Legalization of prostitution would probably not completely eliminate trafficking, but I think it would cut it way down.

It's incredibly naive to think banning a vice doesn't create the black market.

It comes down to the fact we are hardwired to need sex. We will seek it out anyway we can.
