Woke up thinking, given the State's finances, it would be immoral to pay $15m

I think it's perfectly sane to want him gone. But isn't this one of those beds we've made that we have to lie in?
What's the downside to having him as a figurehead on the sidelines, as Florida State did with Bobby Bowden?

LSU football is business not welfare

For the love of God, the school doesn't pay the buyout.

Years of mediocrity, as Florida State was with Bobby Bowden.

State's Finances does not equal LSU Atheletic Dept. Finances.

Rex why are you so stupid? The state has zero to do with what we pay Miles

Really Rex you need to stick to dog dressing.
You really don't understand the difference between state finances and LSU athletic department money?

That's not true. LSU is a state institution that lends its name and sponsorship to the athletic program for returns.

1. The athletic department is not the school
2. The athletic department makes money
You want to ruin a product and make it no longer financially viable to prevent us from making an investment in the product?

Once again, you have no clue about money.

And, by the way, I'd be happy to be talked out of this present mindset because it's not very optimistic.

where do you think the $15m is coming from?

And how did that work out for FSU, letting Bowden stumble around on the sidelines for years? Do you really want to pay a guy millions to do nothing?

They are separate funding sources, but I get your point that it doesn't look good. But the rest of the country already thinks priorities in the south are pretty fricked up so I don't think it matters much.

$15mmUSD spread out over 8 years, with some negotiation to be done yet.
$2 mil is less than the average athletics yearly surplus.
$2 mil a year is nothing with commitments from top-tier donors.
How many $ a year will LSU athletics/football lose if no change is made? (valid, but impossible question to answer).
Keep in mind the R-Kansas/shared Jeff Long agent/Miles raise thing. Basically LSU would have been stuck at a critical point in the year with no legwork done on a replacement. Leg work is being done now. We've come full circle.

Just think of it as a tax, that should make you feel better.
