Pat Dye got fired at Wyoming. He went to interview at Auburn as a dark horse candidate and Wyoming AD found out and fired him. By the time he got to his interview, he was actually unemployed, which put him in a terrible situation because he was a long shot for the Auburn job. He saved his butt with the best answer ever in a job interview. At the time, Bama was on top of the world and had dominated Auburn for decades with Bear Bryant. At the conclusion of his interview, Dye was asked, "if you are hired, how long will it take you to beat Alabama"? His reply..."60 minutes"

It used to be that his teams lost close ones, but LSU lost 41-7 to Auburn last year, got dominated by State at home (but scored late TDs to make it close) and got shut out 17-0 to an Arkansas team that was on a 17-game losing streak in the SEC. And then the last two weeks when it mattered the most - awful results. Things have changed.

That's pretty bad arse. What was his record against Bama?

Gene Stallings (Alabama) resigned amid imminent penalties for infractions and fan discontent as I remember.

1990 7–5
1991 11–1
1992 13–0
1993 9–3–1
1994 12–1
1995 8-3
1996 10–3

So are you really suggesting LSU not fire Les Miles until he has a losing season?

I guess you won't call the fire department until the WHOLE house is on fire?

This is so stupid. So you think Les Miles gets fired after this season? I guess we lucked out with saban jumping ship since his record was on the way down. Got out before the house caught fire.

I remember him saying something along the lines of that but I thought it was more to do with the AD.

Ha, so he was fired before finishing potentially his best season
