seeds 2-8 are not real contenders. I would love for the Hawks to be a threat but the Cavs handled them pretty easily in the ECF. Same with Chicago. I'd say Golden State, Houston, LAC, SA, OKC and probably Memphis would all be considered major contenders in the East. That's the difference. The back end teams in the East are playing better ball but they don't have any true contenders outside of Cleveland.

I get what you are trying to say, but I don't think you can bash the 2-8 seeds in the east, then with the same breath say that Houston and Memphis would be contenders in the East. Both teams have looked mediocre coming out of the gate.

Houston is a postseason kinda team, they don't get excited for regular season matchups except on the rare occasion when they play a team who is their equal. They haven't had much of an issue disposing of both OKC and LAC early this season.

Houston is still gelling. After starting 0-3 they've gone 4-1. They will be fine.

Memphis has not looked great, I agree, but I still think they would pose a bigger threat to the Cavs than just about every other team in the East.
