core to this topic someone else has to beat Bama - total BS
Someone had to beat Ole Miss and someone had to beat LSU. That's what happens when you lose, need help from other teams.

Bad news: LSU won't get in without winning the SEC championship this year under any plausible scenario, the loss was too convincing to Alabama in a game everyone watched.
Good news: Alabama has 2 loseable games left

There are so many scenarios where a 1 loss LSU w/o winning the SEC could still make the playoffs. This will depend on LSU finishing 3-0 first and foremost.
Yep, Alabama whipped our arse. But I will say this, your secondary can be had. I won't get into the what ifs, however a mobile QB like Dobbs or Dak usually gives you guys fits.
There's no question you have the best front 7 in college football.
We'll know more over the next 3 weeks.

I mean it is pretty unlikely. But there are several plausible scenarios that could end with LSU in the playoffs. 1-loss LSU gets in over 2-loss SEC Champ Florida. And also goes over any other 2-loss Power conference champion. Unlikely.. but not like we need any ridiculous upsets to happen like we did in 2007 with Pitt over West Virginia.

Michigan can win the big 10 still, I guess Wisconsin also, but Iowa would have to drop two games. That could leave the big 10 with a 2 loss champ.
Stanford, Utah or ucla could win PAC 12 with 2 losses. Would need Stanford to beat nd but lose another game.
Basically creating an at large bid. Winner of seccg is in, big 12 winner in, Clemson in. Then it would be up to LSU vs other 1 loss big 12 and maybe a 1 loss tOSU. LSU should have better sos.
Big 12 could have 2 loss champion, but would need mayhem for that. In that scenario you would have 2 at large bids. LSU easily gets in if they win out.

Don't have to win conference to get in. Just need two of the power 5 conferences to have 2 loss champion.
What if Stanford losses to ND but still wins the pac12??? What if Michigan wins out and beats Iowa in the big10 tile game... Both will have two losses but yet will still make the playoff at LSU'S expense....

Given that we barely beat Florida, I'm not sure that happens either, especially since Florida would have just knocked off Bama in that scenario..
I think the only way we get in is for Alabama to run the table, and teams like Iowa, Baylor and Notre Dame to lose. We could possibly sneak into the top 4, but that would also set up a Bama/LSU rematch which I don't think the powers that be would let happen...Without a lot of help, or a Bama loss, I don't think we get in this year..

LSU was utterly dominated and their Heisman front runner spayed and neutered on national TV.
You can lose and still play for the natl championship, but you cannot be destroyed and play for the national championship.
Next year we have a legit shot.

Their pass defense is not their weakness now. They are giving up under 200 yds per game and have completely upgraded thanks go their NFL secondary Coach Mel Tucker. Ole Miss was ages ago.

You folks are grasping at straws. We would not get picked, with only one loss, over a Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State no matter what the scenario. Those teams and a few others have extremely large national audiences, we do not. Alabama does also. Why do you think the "committee" chose Ohio State over Baylor last year-the tv ratings would have been horrible. Just my thoughts.

B1G Champ - Ohio State
1-Loss LSU
2-Loss Michigan
2-Loss ND
Your "thinking", or lack thereof, is flawed.

It all depends how LSU plays in the next 3 games too. Obviously, the committee pays attention to the nature of the wins or losses. LSU needs to show multidimensional offense. Toss dive style is not exciting for playoff games.

Ohio State lost at home last year by 2 touchdowns to a Virginia Tech team that went 7-6. So I guess you're just totally fricking clueless.

Although I think we can get in and the losses we need will happen I also realize that LSUs brand of football is just not good TV. Everyone loves points and air attacks we are slow down grind em up football team even Bama who runs it's as aggressive as us has thrown double the a month of pass attempts.
I think we could pass up some one loss teams but we need to look exciting in these next games. I mean we need three straight Auburn type of dominant performances. Big runs. 50 yard TDs. Big returns. Pick 6's. I'm 2011 style of football 45-14 wins. That would impress voters and then they could justify putting us in. 35-27 wins ain't gonna cut it.

First, let me say that human polls are crap. They are too subjective which is why the BCS used the computer rankings as a component. Proof to me was discussion last year on whether or not Ohio State "deserved" to be in after they lost their starting QB. frick that. You should get in based on your body of work, not the stupid "eye test" or a group of peoples opinion on what they think will happen in the playoffs.
I say all of that to preface this statement: LSU will not got in unless they win the SEC. Period. Pollsters do stupid shite like dropping LSU to 9 after a road loss to a top 5 team and move a team like Iowa up because they are undefeated against a pitiful schedule. Fournette and Boykin have one bad game each and go from front runners for the Heisman to not even in the top 3. LSU lost badly, everyone was watching. Plus, they have made it a point to say that winning your conference championship is important. The ONLY slightly plausible scenario is if LSU wins out, Florida loses to Florida State and then beats Alabama in Atlanta, leaving LSU as the only one-loss SEC team who beat the SEC Champs head-to-head.
LSU wins out, Alabama loses to Moo State. THAT is your path to the Playoffs.

Florida barely beat Vandy. You can hang up that scenario.
Moo state and auburn is possible. Auburn looked great against Aggies. Stretched field and moved ball with pace. Looked like Malzahns offense again.

The SEC would have a better shot at being shut out of the playoffs than LSU making it in that scenario.
Sad but true. Bama losing again is the easiest way to get in but even in that scenario, LSU must look good in all remaining games. That's true for all scenarios. Slight chance if Michigan wins B10 plus Stanford loses to Cal or Oregon but beats Notre Dame and Utah. But even then, would committee take a 2nd SEC and leave out a 1 loss team from a conference not represented in the top4?
Posted on 11/11/15 at 11:35 pm to PatriotAlum
If Bama loses another game, LSU does not have to win pretty, they just have to win them all. A one-loss SEC team whose only loss came to a top 5 team on the road is a lock.
