Do you think there would have been the large scale protests in ferguson had the cop been arrested and charged immediately...even convicted?

Maybe. Maybe not. But the evidence I have seen does not support a conviction. All the damage in the world wouldn't make convicting Wilson the right thing to do.

No.

Once he was found not guilty, it would have still happened though.

more of a poll question, I guess.

I'd like to think that there would not have been protests in an 'arrest' scenario. But the closed-mindedness of the people involved was so mindboggling (ie: 'hand up don't shoot'...when it's been proven by multiple people there were no hands up at all) that I'm not sure it would have mattered

just curious as to others' opinions

Do we really want to start the practice of arresting innocent people so that the least among us won't get upset and destroy their own communities?

Self-hating individuals who have assumed the role of über-victim are not interested in facts. They will cast about in search of any possible narratve that supports their claim. It's the only way they have been taught to assuage their own feelings of inadequacy, lay blame at the feet of the supposed purpertrators and gain as much fleeting power as they can. It's self-defeating in the long run but it's so tempting and so easy in the short term, like rioting in your own neighborhood to steal some electronics or drug store prescriptions.

Wisdom needs to be taught. It does not come naturally to most.

Yes because the protests were far more about perception than reality.

Pereception: Poor, innocent, black kid ruthlessly gunned down by a white cop because white cops love killing black kids.

Reality: Violent drug-head killed by cop in self-defense after drug-head tries to steal cop's gun and fights with him.

Reality didn't fit the perception meme and the meme is the most important thing to the protesters.

anyone who says this is not being honest. They had "eyewitnesses" giving false statements about the incident. The community didn't care about the truth...one of their own was gunned down by a white cop. The truth didn't matter after that.

What I find funny is... Whenever it's a white cop and a black victim, the news always says a "a black individual shot by a white cop". I haven't heard one time the news mention, "white six year old shot by black marshals..."

Marksville is the incident that Ferguson should have been. Given how many fubars have happened in Marksville, that's where the riots should have been.

There's plenty of juicy side stories...

-dirty cops
-Marshal's father is an ADA
-corruption
-arresting people under false pretenses
-elected marshal is actually a bus driver

The list goes on.

Instead the media focuses on a stupid university protest.
