Does it revolve around changing scheme to beat one team???

What do we want as a program? Wins and championships. However, we got one program we are struggling against for five years because they out recruit us and are built to stop us. So what do we do? Change our scheme?
If so, we may end up looking like Ole Miss. Oh yeah we beat Bama. But, then lose against teams that can actually match up better with us if we do sacrifice power football for the spread or a hybrid of it.
The true issue is out recruiting Bama and going all out to get the best linemen possible on both defense and offense. If this year is only a fluke and we can't consistently do that then we must change something at the top when that time comes. This not the time with CLM's overall success and the fact we still have plenty to play for now and the near future.
I know we want to beat Bama. But let's say we can't have our cake and eat it too as few programs ever get to do. What do we prefer; lose to Bama but still win more than 9? Or, beat Bama but lose to either UF, Aubie, Arky UF enough times to prevent us from winning a West title and ticket to ATL. Some may say LET's HAVE IT ALL!!! How about if we can't and we have to make a choice as a program.
Going spread and having a team that matches up well with Bama does not guarantee those results. Ole Miss is proving that right now with another loss. Aubie got super lucky in 2013 and had a once in a generation athlete on offense in 2010.
Our current brand of football gives us the best chance - IF WE RECRUIT SUPERIOR ATHLETES!! And of course prepare our players to mentally deal with such a front 7 as Bama's. Its all going to be tough. There are only so many five and four star athletes coming out of HS every year.

I have always been a fan of being able to run over teams. After last night I think it's time to change our philosophy. Comparing us to ole miss and auburn isn't really fair because we have much better talent.
Those teams still beat us...it's not like Bama is our only loss every year. But if we don't change it looks like we will never beat Bama again...until saban retires.

I think you and I are actually agreeing here. Its not so much scheme is the point. We can win vs. Bama even if they are built to beat them if WE HAVE SUPERIOR ATHLETES OR CAN AT LEAST MATCH THEM. Hard to do with the depth they built up with five straight number one recruiting classes. That is why changing our entire identity to beat one team is not the path to take. It won't happen with Miles anyway.

We beat Ole Miss and Aubie more than we lose to them or at least .500. Hey, Bama losses to them too from time to time. Its just that Saban has Bama obsessed with us and make us their Superbowl. The same with us as well. Recruiting is paramount for us. That is why O, Wilson and Raymond are here.

Being dominated on the LOS is not a scheme problem. Their guys up front are just better than ours. Don't overthink it. Our talent level in the trenches has been tailing off for a few years. What happened last night was not a surprise.

Have you not watched LSUs defense the last 6-7 years? We have gone to smaller, quicker guys to defend the spread.
Can we all agree we have tons of talent on the oline?
Now can we all agree that the I formation is the easiest offense for opposing teams to scheme against?
We have won ugly for years. Look at some of the offensive talent we have sent to the NFL...do you think we utilized them to their full potential while at LSU?

We have changed to meet the challenge of spread teams on D, that is granted. But we are not going to change schemes on offense. Its just not happening. So, if that is the reality then the only we can do is recruit superior athletes on both lines to have AND to keep away from the bad guys.
Are we getting the most out of our athletes? For the most part, Yes. But we are matched against a team that is built to beat us and recruits better than everybody else for the past five years. If we played in the Big 10 and ACC we would be in the playoff picture most every year going forward. But we don't.

We don't have to change scheme. It's not the scheme that's the problem it's just how basic it is and how it lacks any kind of imagination. Just because we're a power running team doesn't mean we have to be so damn predictable

Miles' biggest issue is his paranoia. If a QB does not come in ready made to be able to pass underneath and in the middle he will ask Cam to restrict the offense. Its the fear of 2008 repeat. The problem is Harris last night gave him a flashback/shock with his INT.

The road to the SEC championship runs through bama about 9 out of every 10 years. So yes, if you want to beat bama, build a team and scheme that can beat them.
Unless you like to be 2nd or 3rd best and get a participation trophy.

Easier said than done. If we focus too much on just one team to beat then that is when we slip up. It can happen to them See Bama's loss to Ole Miss. But, then again they can afford slip ups early and persevere in November. When you have their depth and recruiting classes over and over its much easier to deal with that.

No need for drastic changes to scheme. Just need the team to execute. How about learning how to complete a simple middle screen with good blocking or getting the ball with some touch to the talented tailbacks / TEs over the middle or in the slants behind the LBs?

The one miss pass to LF7 on the second series when it was 3rd down was a big glow. Harris threw it too soon and felt pressure. That completion could have changed the complexion of the game at an early stage.
