Any coach will look at South Carolina and go Lou Holtz and Steve Spurrier had decent success but couldn't even sniff a conference championship, am I really that much better than 2 legends of the game?

You would almost be better off if you had no success and could blame it on just bad coaches

Holtz and Spurrier were both past their prime there.
the problem is Ga, Fla and Tenn are just better football schools. Then you have Alabama, Auburn and LSU in the west to deal with.

Incorrect. We played in the SECCG and had our chance to get there (by 1 loss) in '11-'13.

Most coaches with egos the size of Mars would answer that question with a "Yes, yes I am a better coach."
