4. Michigan State (Resume better than any BIG12 school)

Nah. Using what you said for #3, the ranked Big 12 teams will definitely boost each other. Okie St, Oklahoma, TCU, and Baylor all play each other going forward. All are ranked in the top 14 right now. If any one of those teams gets through that gauntlet unscathed, then they are in the top 4. No way the committee leaves out an 11-1 Oklahoma unless Notre Dame is 11-1.

The final rankings in the scenario of Oklahoma winning out would be;

1. LSU 12-0 -or- Ohio State 13-0 -or- Clemson 13-0 -or- Michigan St 13-0
2. Clemson 13-0 -or- LSU 11-1 -or- Bama 12-1 -or- Florida 12-1 -or- Ohio St 12-1
3. LSU 11-1 -or- Bama 12-1 -or- Florida 12-1 -or- Ohio St 12-1
4. Oklahoma 11-1 -or- Notre Dame 11-1

TCU, Baylor or Okie St automatically get in with undefeated records. No way an undefeated power 5 conference champion gets left out.

The PAC needs a prayer that Stanford wins out. No way a 1 loss Utah gets over any other 1 loss conference team.

My guess is it looks like this:

1. Clemson - Have looked really good and have a top 10 win over ND.
2. LSU - Only undefeated left in the SEC with a quality win against UF and a top 25 road win at MSU.
3. Baylor - Gets the benefit of the doubt until QB shows otherwise. Committee knows this is strictly window dressing because they play TCU soon.
4. Ohio St. - Even though they don't have a quality win, they are Ohio St.

5. TCU - Still gets to play Baylor, so these two are almost interchangeable.
6. Michigan St. - Still gets to play Ohio St, so these two are almost interchangeable.
7. Iowa - Because they are undefeated.
8. Alabama - highest ranked one loss team because Alabama is always the best __ loss team. Just like next week, they will be the best two loss team, even though lost at home to another two loss team.
9. Florida - actually has a much better resume than Alabama, but they are not called "Alabama".

ETA - Left out ND who would probably be in the 7-10 range as well.

important games coming up I may miss some

LSU vs Bama
Clemson vs FSU
Florida vs Florida State
TCU vs Baylor
Ohio State vs Michigan State
Ohio State vs Michigan
Notre Dame vs Stanford (Notre Dame's schedule is stupid easy from here on out.)
OkSU vs TCU and Baylor
Oklahoma vs TCU and Baylor
Memphis vs Houston (only important because they are both unbeaten, doubt they get in any way.
Florida vs SEC west Champ
Big 10 Championship (Biggest impact on playoff is Iowa vs Ohio State/Michigan State)
ACC championship (likely trap game for Clemson)
American Championship (has Big bowl implications but doubt it has playoff implications)

I think I got them all may have missed a couple.

7. Iowa
8. Ok State
9. Florida
10. Notre Dame
11. Bama
12. Stanford
13. Memphis
14. Utah
15. Houston
16. Florida St
17. Oklahoma
18. North Carolina
19. Ole Miss
20. Toledo
21. Texas A&M
22. Michigan
23. Miss St
24. Wisconsin
25. Temple

My approximation. Last year, the committee had a much easier time ranking the top 4 as there were only 2 undefeateds left at this point in the season. This year is wayyyy more difficult. I think they look at strength of loss for the 1 loss teams as well as strength of schedule overall. I think it will shake down pretty close to this. I also feel this is not with a homer view. While our OOC strength of schedule is not great, I believe no one has a better victory than we do over florida (unless the committee feels notre dame was a better victory for clemson, and certainly no one has a better second victory than we do with Miss. St. IF they put Clemson ahead of us than flip Notre Dame and Florida.

I normally don't think that polls matter much until the end, but this poll will give us a guide into the committee's thought process on who has the most wiggle room. JMO

They've defeated Notre Dame, that's it. The Miami win is no better than the Miss. St. win by LSU IMHO and that's the only win they have against a ranked team all year.

WHAT RESUME?

personally I think LSUs resume is the best in the country, but when you compare the other teams to Clemson they don't have much on their resume. But this month is huge in terms of significant games, things will look much different when conference championship week will role around.
