Player Rankings both by CBS and ESPN have him as a Top 10ish player in the league. If you watch Memphis, it is evident that he is the alpha dog on that team.
While the 1st statement is true, it's the 2nd statement that makes your answer correct. You really just have to watch him play to see that he is the best Center in the league.

Dwight has been mentioned. If Boom finds this to go with RTR, we have a 10 pager at least

Stats from the last two years of playoffs...
Marc Gasol: 18.8 points, 9.28 rebounds, 1.38 blocks, 39.9% shooting (18 games)
Dwight Howard: 18.9 points, 13.9 rebounds, 2.4 blocks, 56.6% shooting (23 games)
Marc Gasol: 18.8 points, 9.28 rebounds, 1.38 blocks, 39.9% shooting (18 games)
Dwight Howard: 18.9 points, 13.9 rebounds, 2.4 blocks, 56.6% shooting (23 games)

I'd def rather have a healthy Dwight than Gasol, but that's just me.
Want Cousins over both.

How about assists?
Gasol is a facilitator. He's more than capable of handling the ball, and creating for his teammates. A point-center if you will. It's a feature that makes him unique amongst 5s in the league, and it's a big reason why he gets so much love.
He's a massive 7 footer with skills.

The Grizzlies have a great point guard. They need scorers. And Gasol shooting less than 40% as a post player is pathetic.

3.6 a game, less than two more than Dwight. I don't think that's really a big deal. I'd rather my center defend the paint and rebound. FWIW Cousins averaged the same amount as Gasol last season.

Gasol is an elite interior defender. Just an all around very good basketball player.

This is stupid as hell. Because he laughs on the bench? He has already taken a team to the Finals (beat Lebron head to head) and has been a beast in the playoffs basically every year he's been there.

Which is why Memphis won't win anything. Gasol is soft.
Gasol isn't soft, but that's not the reason Memphis won't win. Memphis has no shooting.
Howard is a mental midget compared to Gasol-which is why IF the Rockets win it won't be because of Howard.

I have no issue with people making the case for Dwight being #1, when Dwight is at his best he is best C in the league. The problem is that his injuries has really impacted how often we can see him at his peak. His defense has really dropped since he left Orlando.
It is an interesting discussion because Dwight is so damn limited in what he brings you, but he is so damn good at it. You can't really throw the ball in to him down low because he still only has 1 fricking post move. You can't throw him the ball in the high post because he isn't a threat at all there without a jumper or any sort of passing ability. He is a liability at times because his poor free throw shooting. Gasol is superior in all of these areas. Dwight is just one of the best PnR bigs we have ever seen and a monster on the glass.
I forgive Swag because he can be a bit slow at times, but I hate that herp derp look at these numbers line he likes to play so often. He so typically falls down the Boom rabbit hole of selecting certain numbers to try to make himself seem more right. Of course the guy who only shoots layups and dunks shot the higher % from the field than the guy who gets the most hi-post touches the league. He likes to leave out some things like FT% or assists for some odd reason. The teams function differently. Dwight plays majority in a 4 out 1 in system where he is basically the sole PnR option (also so happens to play with one the best PnR ball handlers in the league) and he is surrounded by guys willing to jack up a ton of 3's to space the floor. Gasol plays in an offense with few shooters, another big occupying the post, and where has to play creator a ton. There is a reason a ton of those numbers he posted go up for Gasol when ZBo is out (rebounds especially).

Swag just wants to 69 with Dwight until their wieners turn to raisins.
