Russell is the best in BR. People saying Ewing got lucky (assuming they used Ewing)

I had good luck with Dozier Pools and Construction. It was built in a timely fashion and they stand behind their work.

Brad Keller is the best, hands down, but chances are you aren't looking for the kind of pool he builds.
This is an awesome post. A guy starts a thread about how to spend $60-100k on a home-improvement project when BAM! you show up and basically call him/everyone else (in the world?) poor.

Must compliment the OT for great responses to my post. Much appreciated info.

I probably doesn't matter who builds your pool since they all use the same subs to dig form and pour.
Just interview several and use the one you trust the most, but good luck with that.

why?
Posted on 10/28/15 at 1:06 pm to Stevo
Because they're terrible based on all the horror stories I've heard. I have 2 neighbors that despise Ewing because of the jobs they did.

Bad experiences from people we talked to when deciding to do ours. Including 2 of my 3 surrounding neighbors who had bad experiences with them.
Builder currently doing my addition also had same opinion. Keith will be more expensive, but Russell is the way to go if you are in BR.

They are all paper contractors that sub out all of the work. Play them off of eachother and beat their prices down, they try to take a gigantic commission cut on these pools and turn around and really do nothing the entire time.

Keith Russell himself was there for the digging, oversaw his steel guy and also all of the decking, etc. He is by far the best. And he has a ton of integrity.

My finished pool and outdoor kitchen are great. The process was painful to say the least. I like Chris but he's not the best communicator in the world.

I know Chris on a personal level and have seen his work, but I don't have firsthand experience with him on the business side. With that said, I think he's a great guy and would give him a chance to earn the job.

Ewing did mine last March- May. The pool is fine but it's just dealing with the assholes running the job.

Just had a pool done by Wholesale Pool builders. 18x36 in ground vinyl. Would highly recommend him. Completely done in one week. No money down, pay when complete. Call Claude 225 954 4718

One thing to think of when you choose a builder is after the pool is built.
What's the warranty? Parts and labor?
Look at the equipment that each builder plans on installing and what features do you want or not.
You might get out cheaper with some builders but looking for a complete package is what you need to do. You might save a few grand building a gunite with some builders, but once some issues start popping up, you'll be left paying other costs.
I have experience with GW Oliver, and they would be my recommendation. Truly on your side and have great business model with after care with the client.

Pool warranties are worthless. Pool builders, by and large, are pretty sketchy.
OP, call the last few customers of the 2-3 you get a bid from.
You've got about a 50/50 shot of it turning out OK. Don't sign shite until a lawyer looks at it. And tell 'em they get the first draw when they show up. Make sure you also see proof of current insurance b/c most of these half-wits let it lapse.
Good luck.
