LSU vs Alabama Match up Thread.

Let's start on Offense
Quarterback;
When looking at QB I think both teams sport a bit of a surprise at the position. Neither player, Coker or Harris, we're expected to be highly effective preseason. Coker has made some nice throws and racks up good yardage totals. He's not a runner but can move if need be. Harris throws with a howitzer on his shoulder and is a much more mobile athlete. Both players can throw but as of now, Coker has turned the ball over whIle Harris has not.
Advantage; Harris/LSU
Running Back;
Both teams feature talented running back . Only one features the best player in College football.
Advantage; LSU
Offensive Line
Alabama possesses a big and highly recruined offensive line that is beginning to gel. However, LSU has arguably the most physically and dominant offensive line in college football. LSU must clean the penalties up as that has been a problem at times. I still however like LSU's body of work up front.
Advantage; LSU
Now we go to defense.
Defensive Line;
This is an incredibly close contest. When looking just at the names, Alabama features more star power. For LSU however, players like Lewis Neal have played exceptionally well for the Tigers. This is a close match up and Im inclined to give the tide the advantage. However I think that LSU's defensive line is plenty good enough to make plays against Alabamas offensive line.
Advantage; Alabama.
Linebackers;
Both teams present tough run stoppers in their front sevens but can be exploited at times in pass coverage. Both teams play very well against the run and force the other QB to make throws. I'll give this one a push as both teams have the same strengths and weaknesses at LB.
Advantage; Push
Secondary;
This one I must give to Alabama. Not because of talent, but execution. LSU is far to talented to continue to have the coverage busts that have plagued them all season. If LSU can clean this up, they're as good a Secondary as anyone.
Advantage; Alabama.
Special Teams;
Special teams as a whole goes to Alabama but the place kicking advantage goes to LSU. LSU must clean it's special teams however, if it comes to a field goal, I like LSU.
Advantage; Alabama
Advantage in FG's; LSU
When looking at the match up it of course is a close game that will be hard fought. I like LSU to win however because I like LSU better at QB, LSU features the best RB in college football (also hes the best overall player). I could see this game coming to a FG and I like LSU there over Alabama.
Prediction; LSU 24 Alabama 21.

We sweep offense, they sweep defense. Special teams is a wash.

I agree with it all except I give Bama a bigger advantage on dline and the advantage at linebacker
ETA- I had high expectations for BH

Comes down to if lsu offensive line can handle bama defensive line. If we can we can beat em. Im afaid bama will score at least 1 t.d. on our special team. If they score 2 we done for.

Yeah that one was the hardest pick for me. I made it a push because I think both groups stop the run and both groups can get exposed in coverage. Alabama has more star power but the results are closer than we think.

Alabama's punter will give them +15 yards in every punt exchange. He has been stellar. Keen has not.
LSU will only win this game if Fournette can dictate down and distance. That will be immensely difficult against the best front 7 in college football. If LSU cannot keep Harris out of obvious passing downs, this game may be 21-0.

In fairness, 3rd down throws haven't bothered Harris the past few weeks, including against Florida which is every bit as good a secondary as Bama.

Bama dline is much better and deeper than lsu. Same with linebackers. I would give the secondary a push. The only advantage I see is rb and bama is very good at that position. With all that said we play well at bama and we will be underdogs with a chip on our shoulder. I like our chances if we can avoid special teams disasters.

Don't get me wrong, I love our LBs, but we only have 2. They have 4 good ones that start and they have depth. Advantage = Bama

Nice work. But a little more to go, left out receivers, coaching, intangibles.

Qb- slight edge to LSU
RB- not only LF7 > Henry, but Williams and Guice add to Tigers
WR&TE - very slight edge to LSU
OL- LSU
DL- slight edge to Gumps
LB- Gumps
DB- depends on health of white and mills...edge will be slight either way.
FGK- Lsu
p- Gumps
Coverage, both bad....Gumps
Not as bad
coaching -LSU. Take out the one quagmire and Les' teams always come out strong vs Bama. This year, they will finish strong too.
