O...Coach In Waiting

I know I'll probably get torched but I'm throwing it out there anyway. Very impressed with Coach O from both a coaching and recruiting standpoint. I bet after this season he gets offers for at least a DC. Make him asst head coach with an understanding of taking over when Miles retires. A Louisiana man for a Louisiana team!

Cam Cameron has head coaching experience and in three years has produced two offenses that rank among the all-time best in LSU history. Much better candidate, IMO.

Cam Cameron is NOT a better candidate.
I honestly think Frank Wilson might be the coach in waiting but I would be on the Coach O train for sure.

So two position coaches, one of which has never even been a coordinator are better candidates than our offensive coordinator?

I know Cam has experience but may not be interested due to his health. I think O would make an excellent head coach. USC would love to have kept him in hindsight

I'd love coach O and he'd be my choice right now.
I'm hoping Justin Fuente doesn't leave Memphis for a bigger job before Les leaves so we'd at least get an interview with him. That dude is the real deal.

there is no head coach in waiting on the LSU staff. win NC this year and give O the DC job when Steele gets hired elsewhere. give Raymond and Wilson a big raise. problem solved. miles will be here for 5 more years. no one walks away from a $5+ million a year gig.

I love Coach O but I do not want him as a HC.

Do whatever it takes to keep Coach O and Frank.

Cam wo a doubt gets my vote if we're talking in house promotions.
Like CLM he would surround himself with a good/great DC and the best recruiting staff money can buy. His exp matched with his ability to build an NFL offense top to bottom is what puts him over the edge for me.

Why not? He hasn't been terrible as a head coach considering the circumstances

Unless something drastic happens, Les will probably be here until 2020. LSU will not have a coach in waiting.

My fear is that someone will hire O as a DC. Personally, I wouldn't care if Stelle left and O was promoted. We just need to do whatever it takes to keep him.

Steele has been a head coach in college football before!!!

HCIW arrangements are doomed to fail, and only exist because Bobby Bowden refused to be put out to pasture.
Let's not emulate one of the biggest trainwreck succession plans in CFB history, thanks.
edit - but I'd be fine with Coach O (or Frank) eventually becoming the coach down the road if it unfolded organically. Just no forced HCIW tags, please.

You are all wrong. None of these people are good candidates. O is good at dline and recruiting. His head coaching was terrible as was Cameron's. Cam cameron is a tremendous oc but not a hc. Wilson is unproven and you dont hand over a top 8 program to an unproven coach. Not a chance any of these three should get that job.

Frank Wilson is the next head coach at LSU, barring some calamity.
