Aka the food is just not very good, atmosphere bland, and poor beer selection ?

How do the poboys here compare to a place like Marty J's?

Thats disappointing to hear that the beer selection is shitty. Do they have a decent choice of bottles or no? Are they trying to be a family type place like a Sammy's or more of the college bar crowd? Just curious.

Not really sure of the bottle selection. I saw someone at the bar drinking a Shock Top, if that tells you anything. Just adding Canebrake and SweetWater 420 on tap would improve their beer selection immensely. It doesn't have to be The Chimes, but half the taps are the same beer with different names right now.

There was quite a mix of people there. College guys at the bar, several families and even some older empty nest types.

The beer selection in Hammond was what you would expect at a college type bar. Their specialty drinks are nothing too unique, but are mostly pretty solid.

Ate there last night. The menu is all poboys and burgers. I kinda thought it would be more of a plate lunch/dinner place but whatever. The burger and roast beef po boy was good as was the apple pie dessert. Not a whole lot differentiates it from any other burger/poboy shop in BR but the food was solid.

All things being equal, I'm gonna pick the place where I can get a good beer to go with my meal, especially if the food is of a similar caliber to other nearby restaurants.

Exactly. It's not that you can't go to a place that doesn't have the exact beers you want. But when 5 other places in your immediate area have similar offerings, why not go to the place where you can have some great beers?

Baton Rouge is a craft beer town?

Not even close. Just a few "mavens" who think their opinion matters.
