Why is that?

Wisconsin, under Bo Ryan, is consistently one of the most efficient offensive teams in the country.

They don't intentionally milk the clock. Whether it takes the five guys on the floor 15 seconds or 34 seconds, they are taught to work half-court sets for the best shot.

ETA: Additionally, Tom Izzo is OK with the 30-second shot clock. Bo Ryan has publicly stated he is fine with it, too. Tom Izzo also said he would take the two 20-minute halves and make it four 10-minute quarters. How, exactly, does this change what "Virginia and Wisconsin do"...?

No sir and my favorite team runs a variation of the Euro offense and Princeton offense.

But nice try on being funny.

I actually believe it will as a result the styles of offense will be sped up and you will not get the old Carolina or Princeton back cuts set up as clean and will be basically taken away.

There will be more isolation and flooding of the sides in my opinion, which to me is boring to watch.

I like the Quarters, as long as they use the media time out at 5 instead of 4.

Again, I know I am in minority and will watch college basketball no matter what.
They can still run their offense. It just means they can't spend 10 seconds at the top of the key dicking around and dribbling the ball in place.

College basketball is great because it isn't the NBA. Why don't you just go coach in the NBA, Izzo. .

The best way to do this would be to get rid of the 'one and done' rule and either go the way of college football or baseball.

I know, that's an NBA rule, not an NCAA rule, but it would help.

It's not the rules that make college basketball great.

Do people like college football more than the NFL because of the rules on the field? They may prefer certain rules, but that's not why people watch and enjoy it.

Do you think offense will be better because of a smaller clock? I do not, the scoring may go up, but the offense will not be better.

Offenses won't exactly improve by taking less time off the shot clock or adding more to it. All this does is increase the number of possessions. If teams that run good sets in 35 seconds can just as likely run good stuff in 30 or 24 seconds. Teams that manage to take bad shots will likely still take bad shots.

The main thing that will improve offenses is the freedom of motion stuff. College game has gotten way too physical.

The top recruits would just find a way to go overseas.

And by the way, the NBA changed their illegal defense rules a decade ago which made it more similar to college.

The NBA game before the illegal defense rule change was a completely different game.

The NBA needed a little college style in it, so they changed the rules... and I think now the college game needs a little NBA style to improve their product.

I think people think Wisconsin only scores in the 40's and 50's like Bennett had them doing. Wisconsin at one point led the nation I believe in offense.

Still wish CBB would adopt defensive 3 seconds. I hate how some teams just park a guy under the rim.

Wisconsin has shown they can win with any score. In 2013-14, they were the only team nationally to win in the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 100s.

Last season, Wisconsin also won games in those score ranges (exception being 100+). They shattered KenPom's AdjO.

Such nonsense that Wisconsin's "style of play" couldn't translate from 20 minute halves to Tom Izzo's four 10-minute quarters.

That would go a long way in increasing scoring.

Virginia is a much better comparison. Wisconsin has a fantastic offense.

Virginia goes from having to defend for 35 seconds to 30.

I think the 3 pointer has diminished the offense some also. Kids who have grown up now have never played without the the line and have not "learned" the importance of the mid range game.

If that aspect was taught I think offenses, no matter the clock would improve, as sometimes I feel kids either want inside or 3, and do not have skill or confidence to make a mid range jumper.

I am sounding like old man here, so excuse me if I am sounding nostalgic or "that guy"
