If you were told , before the season that by week 7 LSU'S offense would be ranked 8th in the country in offensive yards per play and 23rd in the country in offensive yards per game you'd laugh at the statement.

Sure we would all like to see the passing game better but the offense is actually producing great numbers.

Yes I know tougher defenses are coming up.

I said preseason LSU would have a top 3 offense in the SEC if that counts

Should be a lot of silence in this thread. I said early on that Harris would pick things up and we would be a force to be reckoned with. Where are the Negatigers now???

My favorite offseason post were

Paraphrasing

"We need to run 4 wide one back sets out the shotgun to get less defenders in the box and open up running lanes"

"The FB is a dead position and only stubborn miles uses it to run into stacked boxes because of his ego and 70's scheme"

"This isn't Cams offense and Miles will give the nod to Jennings no matter what"

"We need to get with the times and run a spread, the """"power I"""" is dead"

I wish i had a dollar for every pee wee coach that made a "we need to run a spread" post or thread.

And yes I am aware we run spread sets and looks and run out of them and have had success running out of them. Which would mean this isn't Miles offense.

Love pouding teams into submission.

I've said since the summer, that I thought LSU would have an explosive offense. I actually predicted 3500 or more rushing yards for the season (based on 13 games mind you). We haven't passed like I had believed, but it's been several reasons why, and the main ones are the drops and amount of attempts. I expected Harris to have to grow and take the good with the bad, but prior to SCAR, we had been playing like a triple option team but with really on one option. One REALLY, REALLY, REALLY good option, but one option nonetheless.

Prior to South Carolina it wasn't the offense, but Fournette and the OL. I guess you could consider that the offense, but I consider what we did vs SCAR as actually producing great offensive numbers.

Yep, which is all the more reason to get Harris to get more comfortable passing the ball. I like the 25 pass 45 rush balance myself.

We should not be scared to throw against Florida, but we should be careful. ECU completed 63.8% of their passes for 346 yards (6.0 ypa) and 3 TDs 1 int. Of course they passed damn near 60 times. Tennessee went 12/19 (63.2%) for 165 (8.7 ypa) and a TD. Ole Miss went 26/40 (65%) for 259 (6.5 ypa) 1 TD 1 int. They can be thrown on, but we won't go all out passing. Just enough to keep them honest.

We just need the passing game to improve one game at a time. Hopefully the confidence from last weekend carries over.

Let's just see how it all plays out now that they are entering the more challenging part of the schedule. Saturday against Florida should be a preview of what to expect for the November gauntlet.

It's crazy a running team as much as we are that we are putting up these high of numbers. Usually running teams have lower statistical rankings but we have LF7. The X factor

I am surprised and content with the offensive numbers at this time. But we havent played anyone, so who knows if LSU has a good enough offense or not.
Interesting season:
Who wouldve guessed Auburn to be this bad on offense and defense.
LSU hasnt played a starting QB all year and wont again Saturday.
Bama loses to Ole Miss 2 yrs in a row.
Ohio St cant move the ball. Michigan is back already.
Arky cant run the ball.
;;;;;;;
LSU can throw and catch the ball this year?

I would not have thought this...... The offense has been impressive... This week will be the best team [BY FAR] we have played yet...So lets see what we can come up with..... I am not concerned with how many yards we get compared to TOP and total plays run... That will wear down the Gators D...

and BTW, this again is LSU not running up the score. So people bitch about the rankings for 13 but forget Jennings basically played 2.5 games that year.

The offense is fine. Les will finish with another top offense in LSU history.
