Two days after quarterback Will Grier was suspended because of the use of a substance banned by the NCAA, redshirt freshman defensive back Deiondre Porter was suspended indefinitely after being charged with four felony counts: two of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, aggravated battery and firing a weapon into a vehicle or building.

He also is charged with property damage of less than $200, a misdemeanor.

Florida announced the suspension on Wednesday through its Twitter account. Coach Jim McElwain said on the SEC coaches teleconference call that Porter “was no longer with the football team.”

“It’s his choice not to be with us,” McElwain said. “It’s one of those things that we don’t obviously condone. Like I said, it was his choice.” Porter, who was switched to defense after being an all-state quarterback at Tampa Jefferson, red-shirted last year and was playing special teams this season, with two tackles in four games.

Could've maybe used him at QB though...

That sounds like a Russell Shepard type scenario.
