I think 1 or 2 more talented players are needed. What needs changing is the coaching staff.
An offense that is committed to the run game would be very helpful. This team is killing itself on first down.

They do have talent, but they playcalling lately has been pretty regrettable.

Ownership always has and will be the main problem with this club. With the Bensons in disarray, I figured that this was going to be a bad year for the Saints.

It began this past offseason, since 50% of the roster is new.

It began before this last offseason. Maybe by cap space and not by choice, but the Saints have been cutting veteran leadership for years now. Guys who are going on to other teams and having big impacts.

well first of all, I think like half of the Saints roster this year are new players.

I keep seeing people say "blow up the team, start over." Well... that is kind of what they are doing.

the Saints have repeatedly got it wrong in the draft though. I don't know who has the final say but it has become comic that they can't seem to find good players, especially on defense.

Cam Jordan is a decent player and maybe this year we finally hit on some picks with Anthony and Kikaha. Swann at least has a clue unlike that cornerback we drafted from Nebraska a few years ago. Still too early to judge this year's class and look at the situation they are walking into. I'll give them a break.

every once in awhile we can still find gems like Terron Armstead but until we can learn how to build through the draft better, we'll be screwed.

you can say what you want to about Peyton Manning as he keeps fading but look at the rest of the team around him. The Saints have failed tremendously to surround Brees even in a decent way. Course, Brees has that huge salary but its not like most QB's in the league make the big bucks anyway. No, its just a lot of fail the last few years to maintain a good team and it finally caught up to them.

Roman Harper was the biggest whipping boy the Saints have had in recent memory, or at least this side of Mark Ingram. And yes, he couldn't pickup a TE for shite in clutch situations. But God damn, he was clearly a locker room leader, and he was the best run-supporting DB we had because he was the only one who knew how to tackle. And whaddayaknow, he goes to Carolina and all of the sudden he's getting interceptions and scoring touchdowns. Same for Malcom Jenkins. What does that tell you about coaching.

Besides a handout after Katrina the Saints have always been amongst the worse franchises in the NFL.

Maybe Atlanta needs a disaster so they can actually win something

I don't even believe they're one of the five worst teams in the NFL at the moment so my answer is probably no.

Which of the the bad teams have the best chance at improving into contender status? Sure, the Saints could max out at 6-10 because Drew Brees is their QB, but with their lack of personnel and salary cap Hell, are they better suited for a quick turnaround than the Lions/Dolphins/Texans/Dolphins/49ers/Buccaneers?

It's sad but true. Before 2006 how many playoff wins did the Saints have ? How many Hall of Famers ? Saints are historically one of the worst franchises in the NFL. The Brees/Payton era is over and they are bottom dwellers again.

Would love to see Bree's stay and be able to groom a guy? Not going to happen. This shoulder thing is bad in terms of him getting moved. Who would take him on? Would he pass an INTENSE physical?

This franchise is still in a super bowl hangover. Honestly. I never thought I would see it in my lifetime. I am just 42. A lot of people older than me are tolerant to mediocrity because their SB ring is still damned shiny.

SP may be the only staff or personnel worth anything in a trade.

I've been in denial for a year now, but am starting to see tough changes are coming. Fortunately we are going to have a shitty enough record to possibly have a good pick.

Oh shut the hell up you dumb bitch

If it were a handout after Katrina wouldn't it have made more sense for them to win a championship during the 06 season? They did play in the NFC championship that year.

Maybe Atlanta needs a major catastrophe, then maybe they could actually win something like the saints

no question.

Saint's sold there soul to Drew Brees, and the chickens are coming home to roost.

Drew Brees was a decent NFL QB with a bad shoulder, and only two teams bid for him. And the other team thought better of Daunte Culpepper and his exploded knee.

Sean Payton not highly regarded either. The only other team that ever really wanted him as their coach was the Raiders. He was desperate for the Green Bay job and they didn't even want him.

But yeah, it was Katrina Pity that won the Saints a championship.

Does Georgia football count as a disaster?

The Saints are just as bad as the Lions. But at least the Saints have won a super bowl in the past 50 years.

Nothing wrong with Sean Payton or Drew Brees.

You still build a team around Drew Brees.

Replacing the man that was smart enough to win the Saints a Super Bowl is a terrible idea.
