I feel bad for anyone that works that hard - most of us, me included, don't know how hard these guys work - then does the one thing that'll get a Les Miles running back in the "you won't see the field for a while" category quicker than anything. As others have said, when you've got the studs like LSU has in front of you, DO NOT fumble if you are even expecting mop up duty or a serious look.
Nick, if your reading this, go find some Joe Addai film, and talk to someone who was around the program at the same time as him, figure out what he did, and do it. Early in his career, he fumbled a few times, and while predictably sitting the bench, he apparently figured out how to correct the problem/keep the right attitude. He went on to become as reliable, beloved, and successful a back as we've ever had. Keep your head up. Keep working hard.

Fell sorry for him,,,, Your joking right. He fumbled the ball. Put your helmet on Go stand next to the coach and beg for another chance. Instead, HE chose to go to the bench, and, HE chose to look like a pussy and put a towel over his head and start crying.... HE CHOSE this nobody else. So no, I don't feel sorry for him.

You're an arse. If you don't have compassion for that young kid who's distraught because he let himself, his coach and teammates down, then you just don't understand what being a part of a TEAM means. You are the typical negatiger, quick to lose faith and even quicker to point out what's wrong rather than what's right.

Nope...he learned a valuable lesson. That will stick in his mind for the rest of his career. He got to sit and watch 3 RBs tote the rock with great efficiency last night. If he wants to get on the field to have his time to shine he will remember that ball security is paramount. That circumstance will serve him well going forward.
Right. This will serve him in the future. Tough lesson but in a game that was not in doubt. He will remember this when the game is on the line and be better for it.

Very well put. There is certainly a bunch of heartless assholes that post on the rant who claim to be diehard LSU fans.

Hester fumbled at Auburn in 2006 but the replay ref overturned it, to our detriment.

He was mad threw his helmet down when he got to the sideline.

Under Coach,LSU has always had great special teams, this will be fixed !

I saw on TV that he removed his helmet BEFORE reaching the sideline. Is that a penalty?

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume your comment about him his non-parochial school background is sarcasm, but regarding my feelings about his fumble, I'd ask you to re-read my post. I said I feel bad for him, not sorry for him.
To watch the mental anguish of a kid that did the one thing he knew NOT to do is hard to watch. While I realize feeling "bad" for someone is a pretty nebulous description, and while I don't think he necessarily handled the situation in the best possible manner, I'll stand by my statement that watching a kid (and make no mistake, he is a kid to me. My daughter is several years older than him) fail, let his coach down, himself down, and his teammates down does in fact make me feel "bad".
I'd have thought that the rest of my post regarding what happened to another LSU back who fumbled as a younger player would let you know that I wasn't suggesting he should be given family huggs by the coaching staff while the rest of the team sang multiple verses of Kumbaya. I also didn't feel the need (as you apparently did) to label the kid a pouting buncha fit throwing vajayjay brought on by his public school education. Rather, I pointed out that as proven by Mr. Addai, there are ways to overcome this mistake. For those of us that aren't perfect as evidenced by our non-Catholic High diploma, the ability to overcome mistakes is an extremely valuable tool.

Apparently it's acceptable to drop passes, sometimes repeatedly, and still retain your starting position. But we've got a lot of years of watching a RB disappear immediately following a fumble. Nick is a great kid and a real warrior, hated seeing that happen to him.

I did feel bad for him, but there's no reason to fumble. One turnover is the difference in outcome of a close ballgame.
Yet, there is a football hall of fame full of players that have fumbled and thrown interceptions. We better inform the NFL and Canton that they made a mistake.

I felt pretty bad for the freshman. this kid will something special in the coming years. he's a beast.
They're grown men playing football in the SEC; competitive athletes that should know the expectations put on them when they sign a scholarship to play here.
Don't know about any little darlings that "Feel Bad" for pampered LSU/SEC football players...................
