I just looked at Kansas City's starting pitching. The ERA had to be above 4.00

Plus Ned Yost is a fricking moron. You can afford to frick up in the regular season. It gets amplified in the post season. I guarantee you he makes some weird arse pitching decisions that lose games.

Better? Really?
price had a lower ERA, fip, higer fWAR, better strikeout to walk ratio, and a lower era- and fip-
keuchel had a lower whip and xfip but my vote goes to price

Eh, that's debatable.
Price has the better ERA barely, more strikeouts again by a slim margin. Keuchel has the better WHIP barely and a lower BAA. Keuchel has more IP, which counts for something... and 20 Wins, which although it shouldn't matter, is always considered.
Keuchel has a 7.2 WAR compared to Price's 6.0.
Keuchel also has a slightly better Adjusted ERA+, 162 to 161.
Heads or tails, really.

you mad bro? Because you obviously don't understand what light hitting means....
2nd in the league in OPS and HRs and 5th in the league in runs scored...sounds like light hitting me

Price/Keuchel is pretty much a dead even toss up. I don't see how anyone can say the other clearly had the better year. I probably go Keuchel, but it's close.
I think Chris Sale is actually the best pitcher in the AL, but the atrocious White Sox defense will keep him from getting any consideration.

In general, I agree that Sale is the best AL pitcher, but not this year. Most of his peripherals lined up pretty close to Price and Keuchel, but his ERA was a run higher. The best case (and most obvious) for Sale is that he strikes out a million guys each start. Even though Sale's defense blows, his FIP and xFIP were pretty close to Keuchel.
Even if you throw out ERA, poor defense, etc., I could not put him higher than third. He had a quiet a few starts where he got BOMBED. In his six of his 31 starts, he gave 5+ ER.

I disagree. Price is the best SP in the AL IMO. Sale is for sure in the top 5 with others such as Keuchel, Gray, Archer, and Kluber in the discussion.
It is truly a tossup on this year though. I think Keuchel wins it by the slimmest of margins.

Why and how would this effect the Cy Young Award? You know playoffs and all...wildcard game is a PLAYOFF, regular season is for Cy young

He had already locked it up before last night.

Ummm, weren't the Astros second in the AL in home runs this year?

More "knowledgeable sports guy" talk that Ryno is always talking about.
How anyone can say Price or Keuchel had a "better year" either way and position it as anything other than opinion is simple minded to extreme.
I'm a huge Astros homer, but I do think Price wins it -- his home/road splits were better and I think that is the tipping point.
However, I do believe Keuchel had more starts under pressure which does add significance to his year. I base this off of the stats that the Astros led the league in come from behind wins and scoring the most runs after the 7th inning.
Both pitchers had similar years. The stats could be diced and sliced to make either of them look better on paper.

Maybe the Cards fan ought to worry about the NL for the next week or so.
