Damn. Hope it can still be played in Columbia..

that's from the mayor this morning. people are still missing and there is major flooding in the city.

While rain has stopped falling in South Carolina, the deadly storm continues to bring devastation, with numerous dams breached and damage expected to top $1 billion.
Numerous dams have been breached, bridges collapsed and hundreds of roads were inundated with floodwaters, causing emergency evacuations.
President Obama has signed a disaster declaration for federal aid to help with recovery efforts, and more than 1,300 National Guard members have been deployed in the state.
The storm is blamed for at least 13 deaths.
More than 500 roads in the state were severely damaged by the storm.
About 40,000 people in the state still do not have drinking water, and tens of thousands remain without power.

Play this game somewhere on Saturday or move it November. No Sunday or Monday bs, not with UF coming in here next weekend.

just move it out of the area. atlanta or somewhere.

Mentioned nothing about the game this weekend
So you can't piece together that if they cancel school for the entire week, they likely don't have the capability to host tens of thousands of people for a sporting event?

They really should just move it up the road 1.5 hours to Charlotte in Panthers stadium. Panthers have a bye this week and are out of town next week so field shouldn't be an issue for Pro team. No way under these conditions they should be playing in Columbia.

Maybe they are more concerned with people's lives than a football game right now

If it didn't say shite about the football game I'm glad I didn't read all this.

doesn't mean game still can't be played in Columbia. Just means tens of thousands of people won't have a place to stay in Columbia and they should take that into consideration when deciding whether to attend the game.

TWC just announced another dam just breached. That now makes 10.

Yea we get that but 7000 people from Baton Rouge are headed to Columbia, lots of people leave Wednesday and Thursday, are they ready for us?
It's ok for us to cancel, we get that, but time is running out, flights leave in the Morning

No shite, which is why they wouldn't waste resources on hosting a game in Columbia.

They currently have to have drinking water brought in to Columbia. There is no way that game should be played there with the current situation. I don't see how any rational person doesn't get that.

Yup play it somewhere else and send the proceeds to relief efforts. Its not that hard

We need to see how this all plays out.
They could have it all ready by Saturday.

But some people (thousands) have travel plans to either cancel or rebook.

Yea, drinking water for 80,000 people at an 11AM college football game is definitely a priority. And stuff like this will toatlly be fixed in 4 days.
There is absolutely no reason to even attempt to keep the game in Columbia. None.

Not to anyone with a brain. You think all these issues are going to magically go away in 4 days?
Look they may keep the game there, but that will never make it the right call.
